The problem here is some of us aren't actually free at all. I've spent more than the cost of the Hero pack in this game. Turn off my access to game and I'll just go spend my money in another game. Meanwhile the guys who paid for the "VIP access" with a pack might never spend another cent again.

    Yeah we're on Dragon.

I am going to try on my alts on the other server. Right now in PE on Dragon I am not seeing a lot of lag (well considering it's prime time here in EU) but it could be coming in spikes

On Dragon, inside a foundry instance, no seeing any lag. For now

Good for you, but irrelevant. People can still buy the packs, and if there are load issues, paying customers should not suffer because of those who do not support the game. It is a little odd that you call others -- who make this game possible -- selfish, when at the same time you except that as a free player you should have the same privileges as paying players. If your presence impacts said paying customers negatively, then a queue is not unreasonable. If this sounds harsh, then my apologies, it isn't intended that way; it's just common business sense.

This has nothing to do with one's computer, either. These issues only happen during prime time, and didn't exist during headstart, so this does imply that it is load issues caused by too many players on the sever (this may also depend on the zone). There is nothing selfish or unreasonable about discussing this matter, especially in light of the HotN being sold with "priority access" as a feature (in other words, this was paid for). Turning off the queues to please free players while upsetting those who paid doesn't make much sense. If that is selfish, then so be it. It's how the real world works: you get more if you pay more.

Glad you know so much about me on one little post. I bought the guardian pack to support the game. I also bought the golem companion and fashion and some other stuff I probably don't need. Don't have to be a Hero of the North to support the game. There is a cheaper option.

This should get factored in, too, I agree. Their system knows who spent money, and how much. Like I said before, I have no issues with free players (they are part of the content and buy my stuff in the AH :p). I just think that IF these are capacity issues, access should be throttled (or the capacity increased). An evening like tonight isn't enjoyable for anyone, paying or not. :)

It does when there is no queue to wait in. If they would bring back queue times and just let the no-payers complain. The lag would be reduced. Its a server capacity issue. Graphic settings has little to do with lag. That is a FPS issue not a Latency one.

If you are so brilliant with servers and internet connection why dont you work for pwe/cryptic so you can "Fix" all the problems, cool you got a 200$ pack, it still doesnt equate to less lag, with ques there will still be lag. get over it

I'm seeing a noticeable delay between when I use a skill and seeing the effects of that skill on the mobs I'm hitting. I'd say around 900ms to a 1 second delay, or even more perhaps.

I'm not seeing delay when setting up crafting tasks or searching AH etc. Just seems to be combat delay.

How do you figure there will still be lag with que's? The lag nearly didn't exist when non-vip players had to wait in long lines. I think you are just pulling out some weak argument because you don't want to wait in line.

It probably depends on instances. Dunno. My attacks are firing as needed. Are you in a dungeon, an instance or 'Open World'?

Yes. and no it's not my connection I checked my internet speed it's the same as always. It is the servers and it's only a issue during peek hours and weekends. The game has too much server load.

So, speed is not the same as lag. When you do a speed test, you're not even going down the same routes nor to the same servers as the game servers so you won't learn much from running one.

Having said that, I also experience pretty severe lag (rubberbanding) at times as well so I think your point, while incorrectly stated, is still accurate. They have too much load on the servers at this point to keep the experience high quality.

After they upgraded their server capacity TWICE and since you lose your "No que time waiting!" you are mad. Like i said, if you know tons about servers and capacity and how they work go work for PWE you would do much better then their monkeys

I did a traceroute on the game servers, and my ping to them is the same as always. It's definitely the servers, not the route.

Try relogging. I just did and it seemed noticeably better for me. May depend which cluster you get on,

Cool, that's the right way to check for routing issues...

I'd love to do it but it honestly doesn't seem to be worth $200 bucks. If you take out the frivolous stuff, then what's really of value? The mount, the companion, a couple char slots (already bought a bunch of those). Anything else?

Maybe I just don't fully understand what you get with that or the $60 pack.

The 2M AD which currently have a value of 5700 Zen (and increasing daily). But the HotN pack included headstart, beta access and prio access, which are of no or less value now. The Guardian pack is arguably the better deal. HotN is mostly a "supporting the game" kind of thing now, unless you specifically want the mount or the panther.

Relogging (closed then restarted game entirely from launcher) helped, looks like they have a dodgy cluster in there somewhere.

The one thing with the cash shop which is a bargain to me is the chr slots. Two for 5 bucks well worth the price. As far as the packs I have been debating on getting the 60 buck one.I probably won't.It just isnt that impressive. To me other might think they are the best thing since popcorn and are happy.More power to them.It is their money so how they use it is their business.

I feel like theres just too many people trying to flood the game at one time, especially when the servers go down. Theres such a rush of players logging in at once, its probably why the server starts having a heart attack.

No it's something else, as my relogging experiment shows. If it was just universal to the whole game relogging wouldn't have changed a thing (in fact it might've even made it worse, with what you're saying could be going on). It's looking like they have some dodgy server clusters in the mix, and we sometimes get dumped on one.

The reason for this is that PWE really makes their money from bags and upgraded companions all of which are per character. So it is just good business scene to offer characters cheaply so that they have the opportunity to sell more of the expensive per character items.

Compare this to the other AD&D MMO, DDO, and you will see that there bags/bank slots and companions (called hirelings) are available either for easy to get reputation rewards or trivial amount of gold. In fact you could buy all the current content in DDO currently for every character you ever make for less than it would cost to outfit three characters with bags and purple companions.

But when you add that against a Hundred dollar a year sub or buying the content piece mill, the savings against NWO is negligible or arguably nonexistent, Especially when you consider that in Neverwinter a Hundred bucks will buy you 10,600 Zen, all your content is free, you are allowed to have things like Mounts and Visible Cloaks and you have the foundry which is also free.

The bargain from one to the other boils down to the type of game/setting/rule-set you prefer I guess, having played both since Beta (actually Alpha in the case of NW) I choose NW, but YMMV.

I love how the OP says, "paying customers" like only the people who bought HoN paid. I've prob spent more money with my Guardian pack and other purchases in the Zen store than a HoN pack. I understand you were promised VIP status, and you got it when the queue's were up. Well the queue's aren't up and they don't have a reason to. It would make no sense from a business stand point to lock out one type of paying customer for another.
Fact is game runs very well for a newly launched MMO. Sure we've had a few crashes and occasional lag, but I assure you if you have the problems you're describing then the issues are on your end.

The 5-day headstart (which no longer exists, but was likely the most valuable thing in the pack. particularly for AH junkies, crafters, and market speculators) and 2mil AD. The other stuff, yeah, seems like frills.

I agreed with the rest of your post, but the issues we get at times with game server are definitely server issues and not routing issues or computer issues.
