Change Race feature?

Does anyone know (not holding my breath for a Cryptic response here) if there are any plans on implementing a Race Changer in the Zen store, like the Change Appearence one? Far from uncommon in MMOs, so you'd think this one would have it.

My mains are always wizards/warlocks/clerics, and I'm a shallow, superficial gamer who really want to finally be able to play them as Drow (rare option in other MMOs :P ) here but have to wait 50ish (?) days for the race to be unlocked - having a Race Change option would make this a non-issue.

I would pay for this service, too, if it is offered for 1500 or less Zen.

I wish they would add the ability to have multiple classes on one character. So I won't have to go creating new characters over and over. Just use the same char and run a dif class. Much like Phantasy Star Online 2. One character, max all classes.

If they did that it would respec your points as different races have different point rolls. As of now they charge $6 to respec. They won't do this without some serious monetary gain.

If they do this, it might cause alot of issues. For one, races are not merely cosmetic, they are also different innately with certain racial features, such as more dmg to enemies lower than 50% health(tieflings) and 3% more defense(Humans).

This could be an easy exploit by allowing someone to chose a race that benefits them early game like humans and elves, then switch over to a different late game race, like half elf or tiefling.

But if this change is purely cosmetic, I wouldnt have any qualms about it. I'd love to have the bonus stats of a Elf, but the looks of a halfling for my rogue, or the human attributes and a tiefling looks as a cleric.

I have two of my three character slots filled already. One is 60 and the other toon is 54. I'm purposely saving my last spot for the new classes/races. Could you not fudge it a bit and just created your character to have a Drow look? It may not be perfect, but it's about how you play it if you're into the whole RP thing or whatever.

It's so easy to level up in this game, would it really hurt to just remake your character?

It wouldn't "hurt" me to remake a character, but is odd that I should have to, when a Race Change feature works fine in other, and older, MMOs?
I like to invest in my characters, by playing and pimping them out - deleting a character I've done so with for 49 days to "remake it" isn't really a fun option.

Im not just after the look, I want to play Drow on certain classes/main - just like others want to play Half-Orc or Human. Not an RP thing, it's just that I like to play the characters I like to play how I like them.

And I doubt it would cause "alot of issues" as jedizalm pointed out, as other MMOs (take WoW for instance) have no issues with it, and the "exploit" he mentions is so very minimal and kind of silly/pointless (early levels are easy and fast as it is) that it wouldn't be worth the probably high cost this feature would have if Cryptic adds it.

I honestly see no reason to not add Race Change, and a ton of reason to add it - and it surprises me that a 2013 launched MMO doesn't have it when it has other classic MMO features (for IRL cash/Zen).

Would be interesting, if you got to re-pick your starter stats. I met a poor chap in-game who didn't realize you could re-roll stats on char creation, so his great weapon fighter's running with 17 int, 12 strength, 11 con.....told 'em about it but he seemed not to care...

Oh, don't get me wrong, I have no issues with them adding the feature... just giving an option or another way to look at it depending on the timing and costs if/when it's added.

Like I said, I have no issues with it if they at least make it only a cosmetic thing. And there are more than just the racial features, there are also rolls on stats, and to a much lesser extent, hiding your true character race on PvP, but I seriously doubt anyone even takes race into thought during PvP.

All those other mmos are also chosen races for pure cosmetics. They dont have certain aspects to them that changes from race to race, and if the do, they either relate directly to the class the play, or are NOT changable. Take PW games. More often than not, race determines class, and cannot be changed. Aion for example Race determines which world you play on. WoW doesnt offer race changes as far as I know. For games that do allow race changes, the race is purely cosmetic.

To be honest I really don't see your argument here... since you're kind of wrong. WoW actually does offer Race Change, and races there have Racial Abilities and bonuses etc, might even change the quests and racial mounts available, starting zones and so on. So it's not just purely cosmetic, and works just fine. (I used it myself several times back when I played it.)
EDIT; You can even switch factions in WoW, including race, wich has alot of changes and things reverted or switched (wich is just an example MMO). Works fine, with no issues.

In Neverwinter a Race Change would in effect mean a Race Change incl an Appearence Change (obviously) and a Respec. I don't see any issues with this? Just charge for Race Change+Respec and put it in the Zen Store.

I think it would be a easy money maker. Especially when new races come out.

Maybe you just missed it, I'll make sure to highlight it for you.

I dont play WoW....I'm not going to play a game that charges me to play it. There are literally hundreds of games out there that are just as good as WoW and they are FREE.

And I made my point. If they add it, I only hope its cosmetic only.

I want to believe 100% they will bring race change, considering they will be bringing new races into the game.

An unfounded/unchecked argument is a weak argument, if not flat out wrong - if you want to use it as one you can always save time with google. :)
Or you can nitpick and add in a little rage on subscription games :P

Yes, you made your "point", wich was more a personal preference opinion, wich was that you want it to be cosmetic only, since your other argument regarding that it would change to much was invalid and/or simply fell apart.

But even if we disagree about this, cool that you respond and counter - the more discussion we get about this, the bigger chance the Devs see it and implement it :)
