Is it possible to alter the layout or make hills or valleys in custom maps?

You cannot altar cryptic maps but you can make your own map and 'build' it the way you want. A few examples are 1) B2 borderlands. He made the entire map from scratch including the caves and the Keep. Also, The Beast Within is a totally hand made map. IE It is an outdoor map and they built the rooms manually. It is an indoor LOOKING map but it was totally hand made on an outdoor map.
So although you can't altar what has already been placed... you can start with an empty map and create a masterpiece

So if you pick a custom map, lets say Outdoor, type: Empty, Map name "Flat Large" How would you put Hills into it?
So can you paint your own custom outdoor maps or not? As in, hills, mountains, choose where the river flows, place buildings etc .
If not.....then it kinda defeats the whole purpose of being able to make your own adventures.
As for terrain, no, you can not change the actual "mesh" of the terrain. What you can do is utilize rocks, water tiles and other things to heavily modify a map. I have made maps with rivers in them before using the water tiles.
The main purpose of make your adventures is less about maximizing the customization of actual maps, and more about the customization of the stories and objects with in each maps. You can take the exact same map, and two different talented authors can turn them into so completely different things that even Cryptic would have a hard time telling they started from the same base map, just by using objects such as rocks, trees, buildings pieces, water, etc.
