New Paragon Paths = Profit for PWE ?

Welp.
Right before I was about to go to bed (finally) I had this huge epiphany after coming across a thread that had mentioned new Paragon Paths being implemented (which I totally forgot about)

So here's my concern.
When these new Paths do surface, I'm guessing in order to even spec into these trees you'll need to respec.
Which, of course, costs money.

For me, that's really not a big deal. Considering I have 2 unused Respec tokens but I have to admit that I sincerely sympathize for those who cannot afford to respec and be able to dive into the new content.

If this really does happen to play out like I mentioned, all I have to say is; Well played PWE, well played. -.-

Going on history from dealing with Cryptic and STO, it will most likely be like this. The new paragon paths will be released to all players for free. The paragon paths would be considered as content and Cryptic (and from what I have heard PWE as well) do not sell content. When the new paths are out, they will likely give all current characters a free respec. They have done this twice with STO since launch and there is talk of added skill trees for STO and they will give free respecs again when it goes live.

    Aw thanks for that!
It's pretty comforting to know. NWo being the first Cryptic game I've played, I have yet to really get a feel for how the company works.
If they carry out the content like they did in their previous games, then I guess we really have nothing to worry about.

    Cheers !

even tho i like this game and find it fun i have to say every thread i read with reguards to cash shop just stinks of pwe greed , dont get me wrong here i have paid plenty in cash shops and monthly subs for 18 years but this title is way out there for any one on an average wage or a youngster hounding there parents to get what they want.

I play alot of games with mounts that cost over 100$ so 30-40 for a mount isnt as bad to me since i would buy that if i really wanted it.But the game is great so far even though i ran though the lvl's kinda fast but some times i want to be able to do that in a mmo.

But can we get a que for all instances plz i hate that once i reach what ever lvl i cant que up for the instance i wanna run

Yeahh, I'll admit that I do spend a lot of "Entertainment" funds on MMO's these days; whether it be through sub's or cash shop items (mostly vanity/fashion items :D)
But I must say that it's kinda strange to see a game charge real money for Respec'ing.
Usually you use some sort of in-game currency to do that.
But I can't complain; f2p games have to have some kind of flow of steady income.
Just wish there was other options for players who want to enjoy a game, but can't afford to do so because every where they turn, there's some sort of cash sink they fall into.

And again, I'm not one of those people who QQ over not having money; that's not my personal issue.
I'm just humbly taking concern over the fact that there's really good players out there who are getting shafted because they don't have the money to keep up.

New paragon paths is also a reason/chance to roll new characters instead of respeccing. After all, they do let you buy up to 50 character slots.

A word of caution though. This is the first game released by Cryptic wholly under PWE. STO and CO were already live when PWE bought Cryptic from Atari. I am not sure how that would affect the way things operate under this title compared to the other two.

As I said, they have already done it it twice with STO without charging anyone any money. They way it worked was more like a skill wipe and you had to reset your skills. You did not get a physical respec token.

My suggestion would be to be cautiously optimistic but, prepare for the worse.

They will likely give free respec for everybody when they implement new paragon patches. The reasoning is that current feats dont even support anything outside of current paragons, so they will need remodeling and adding new stuff. If they do so, they are changing what you are using and if thats the case, the mistake/problem is on their side not ours, thus we should get free respec.
Additionaly, currently you cant pick what you want, because its not even avalible, with result in blocking many people from picking their favored playstyle, yet.

Just to state this again and again:

Cryptic has never, NEVER sold respecs on any major update.

In STO when any class recieved game changing or breaking updates everybody recieved a free respec token. If anything new was added or changed, again, free tokens all around, etc.

When they add new paths everybody will get a free token. They did the same in champions.

    Awh thanks, haha. :3
I try to keep an open mind, as well as do my best to be respectful to my fellow gaming community.
The way I see it, you can't go wrong with optimism.
Or quite simply; "Be nice, or gtfo~" :')

    Ahh okay.
Like I had stated previously; I'm new to how PWE operates its games.
The way I see it is that since you have to fully respec in order to reset any Feats or Powers, it requires a Token ($$) at this current time; that it would also apply to changing your paragon path.

But like other people have already stated, that's not how things have worked in other games.
So I guess with that being derived, we really have nothing to worry about in terms of fully having to Respec.

How could one not afford a respec? It's not the price of a house or car.

Yup, so you'll get your free respec. Personally id probably just remake and try it again from the ground up to see what new things are, and of course, to save that respec token :3

It may not work that way. The last time they updated the skill tree on STO, they didn't give us a respec token. They wiped the skills clean and we started over from scratch. We got a free respec, just not with a token.

Yes, the paragon paths will cost money. That's why they are calling this a BETA yet still collecting your money cause when the game goes LIVE with all the appropriate content that offers with a launch you make impulse purchases and they rake in the dough.

I expect a free respec when they add the paragon choices.

no need to go rabblerousing about how you think they will make it a cash-grab until it happens.

Why spread lies? The Paragon Paths are content that is crucial to the game. Cryptic never has, and never will, charge money for said content. I am speaking from experience....not conjecture.

Guys, last major class update patch, they gave EVERYONE a free respec token.

There's no reason to believe they wouldn't do the same with new paragon paths, which I'm guessing is going to come along with simliar class balancing.
