The Problem with PVP

PVP is mainstream in the mmo genre. With each game it has its own set of problems. Those problems are mainly created by the player base themselves. In Neverwinter classes are based are grouped up within 10 levels of each other. A lot of it think it is because of a certain class that they are underperforming. It is perceived that this one particular class is so overpowered it is game breaking. This could not be any further from the truth. For instance take a 20 rogue with 20 gear and feats up against a wizard 29 with 29 gear and feats and the rogue will lose 9 times out of 10.

What is most concerning is the majority of these claims are from low level and just see it as one particular class being better than the other. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. From my limited pvp experience in this game I have run into a lot of challenges. For instance the Tank just shield blocking, the Trickster Rogue popping from up behind and making casting impossible, the cleric with endless healing ability, the Control Wizard that deals out damage and freezes and stuns, the Greater Weapon Fighter that can't be held and knocks opponents off their feet constantly.

The only thing I can say is overpowered is the player. Some are much better equipped and have much better knowledge than others. Pvp has been my main staple of capping toons. When things started to go sideways in most situations my gear was not up to par. Leveling just in pvp can leave toons further behind in gear making it much tougher at higher levels.

So here are some tips. The tank can be killed quite easily and rapidly if you flank him while he is shield blocking. The rogue can be taken out rapidly by the cw who freezes and stuns him. The cw can be killed quite easily by the trickster that pops up behind and smoke bombs him. The Gwf can be taken out if you dodge his attacks. The cleric can be killed if you stun and attack.

This isn't a one on one who is the best. The teams that usually win fight together and use their strengths and exploit the parties weaknesses.

One final thought. Before posting again on a nerf this or this class is overpowered, try playing that class. It might be possible it is not the class but the player. If the devs take to much of this to heart there will be changes which will most likely effect pve. If it effects pve I am going to be the first one out the door never to return.

I have a legitimate complain about PvP: The party leader can kick everyone in the party, forcing them to exit the arena and get no points. This is a huge issue.

I have to admit I have kicked players. It was for being afk. I would never kick someone for playing poorly. It is a new game it takes some getting used to. I also have never been kicked from a group. If this is a huge issue for you. You should ask yourself, "What am I doing for getting kicked?" If you went afk for the free points without contributing or not engaging constantly running away I can see how that happens. If someone in particular is just griefing, you should report them.
