Would like to say this game is great, but I think it would be better if you were able to cross classes. For instance if a control wizard could learn some of the feats and abilities of other classes.
That would take a major rework, and would be even further from the 4e inspiration. Not to mention rife for exploit and min-maxing. So i say i hope it never happens.
For the record, Final Fantasy 14 had that, you could use skills from any class you leveled up. People hated it and now it's having to be "reborn" with a totally different class structure. I enjoyed it (other than it ran like a dog on my system), but it required pretty much everyone to take certain skills to not be considered a gimp.
I think we need a bunch of paragon sub classes to give variety.

An "easy" solution would be to add a battle cleric, battle mage, and I heard someone on another thread mention a "brawny rogue".

4E multiclassing is more or less you taking a second class at paragon tier instead of a paragon path.

This what the op said needs to happen yes for this, but in order for this to happen. There needs to be more buttons added, and everyone needs to dodge. These things need to happen, before choosing something else.
"Balancing" relatively set classes is hard enough. Adding free-form multiclassing to it just makes it impossible (and/or gets lots of people kicked from groups, once the mathematically "best" builds are discovered and anyone who isn't using one is considered a waste of space.)
