relic hunt question

hi, I've been trying to complete the relic hunt quest, but i seem to missing to the time of the contest most of the time, how do i check when there is a relic hunt contest coming? i've search the internet and found that it will show on the mini-map but so far I've only seen the events for skirmish bonus and the like...
How often does the contest comes up?

    Not sure how often it comes up, but if you hit "X" it'll show you if it happens to currently be running (and for how much longer).
