**** question, sorry. When I put one of these down do I need to do anything? Do I pray at the altar? If so, how? What do I gain by using one? Is there anywhere where I can get game info like this?

Thanks

No, I haven't come across that quest yet. So until I get that quest I can't pray?

correct. It's a level 11 (10?) quest in main city.

I managed to put one of these down by accident (only just started playing). How do I create a portable altar? Do I need particular items?

    They are drops from kills.

I had 40+ in my inventory when I hit 60 and I had used some for post combat regeneration as well as Invocation in the field. They won't replace potions, but they can help save some post-combat, if you're not horribly hurt and have time to wait.

They allow regeneration like a campfire? Boy do I feel silly for running back to them and wasting potions late in those personal dungeons >.<

They aren't as good as a campfire, but they will eventually get the job done. Not sure if they can remove injuries, or whether they last long enough to work there.

I didn't understand what they were for at the beginning, and thought that you had to set them up at a campfire to enable yourself to invoke. I burned a couple that way, but plenty seem to drop.
