Chair/Sitting animation

Title says it all.

There millions of chairs in the Forgotten Realms, but for some reason, everyone just forgot how to sit in them.

Can we get a simple animation for NPC to have them just sitting in a chair/bench/other raised platform.

Unfortunately, no at the moment. There is bunch of threads asking for it, but adding sitting animation would mean like making tens of animation (sit, talk; sit, drink etc)

There are already animations for this (just look at the Cryptic maps), but they haven't been tied into the Foundry. Maybe they have a plan for a unique way to make them easier to use than things like, say, people leaning against a wall.

Too bad they don't actually use neverwinter nights or NWN2 approach to worldbuilding by allowing us to actually SCRIPT stuff...like the sitting looping animation. In NWN and NWN2 all you had to do is get the NPC close to a chair and add the sitting script to the NPC on heartbeat and the NPC would sit in the nearest chair. Presto chango...done. *sigh* but oh well...guess we're stuck with an extremely dumbed down version of what NWN/NWN2 can do....too bad.

Uh, what you described wouldn't solve anything. This has nothing to do with scripting, and adding scripting wouldn't help in the slightest with this particular problem. The issue is a missing animation, not missing scripts.

NWN scripts aren't a magical thing that can conjure up animations from nothing. They are just a different way of handling things that Neverwinter wants us to do through the UI.

Why are the animations missing do you know?

    Missing implies they exist somewhere.

They do exist in the game since Cryptic can use them, but they've probably been held back because there are issues getting them to line up properly in the Foundry, or something like that. It's a very basic animation, so I'm sure it'll be added as soon as possible.

Hmm... I don't remember ever seeing them. That's what I get for only playing Foundry since the game was in beta.

You spent time making that. Finding the site, making a custom meme, posting it here, spelling my name wrong, violating the forum rules about personal attacks. Thanks.

Sure would be a useful thing to have. Till then, my explanation is everybody has hemorrhoids.

If you've played it, "The Spellthief Trials" quest actually lampshades the lack of a sitting animation by having an npc sitting on the ground directly next to a bench, with lines about the bench being right there...
