Worth it to ID non-class items and sell on AH?

Hey everyone,

My initial thought was that it would be a pretty efficient system to ID any good non-class drops (high-ish relative level, stats, etc) and put them up on the AH. The amount of gold they fetch is minimal, even more so if it's not ID'd, so I figured there had to be a more efficient use of them. My thinking is that as long as they fetch 15 AD, no harm done since that's what ID scrolls cost.

Well, my first batch of auctions are coming to a close with almost none of them selling. My method was to lower the suggested price it autofills, set a high buyout price and drop it in the market for 3 days. I've had two bracers get traction, a green currently for ~180 AD and a rare that sold for 7,500 AD. But the other 20 or so look like they might go completely unsold.

This has me second guessing my plan to ID everything and sell for a minimum AD. Is it worth it? Constructive thoughts?

Thanks!
-Sean

I've been vendoring them to help feed my potion addiction. ;)
Once you hit cap, there really doesn't seem much use for them, unless you have alts. Everyone is getting similar from drops, and while gold doesn't have as much use as AD, it still seems the best to just vendor if you don't like the look of (for transmuting) or can use it.

I just vendor greens and put the occasional blue on AH for some measly AD. Greens drop in such abundance right now so there's little need to look for them at all while you're leveling up.

Vendor greens, blues go to AH. All of my blues have sold within 24 hours (usually MUCH less). There are a LOT of casual players in this type of game, who are either lazy or don't have the time to play. With even a little bit of effort you can most certainly get rich off of these baddies if you have the motivation.

Hmm, that's a good point about the greens. I think I was just automatically plopping any ol' magic item up there, not even considering how often others will be finding those same greens.

Do you feel it's still worth ID'ing before vendoring? So far I've been finding plenty ID scrolls while adventuring, but I want to be mindful of it from the outset.

IMO yes. You will make much more in AD selling blues than what you spend on ID scrolls.

AD is worth more than gold.

AD is worth more than gold.

So basicly there is no point to ID green items before selling only if you really need gold or do not have decent gear in given slot ?

I am around 40 and the ID drop rate do not cover amount of unID items I tend to gather.

Depends if you need gold, and if you are finding plenty of ID scrolls. Lesser ID scrolls only ID up to lvl 28 or 29 items so you might as well use them up. I wouldn't go crazy on buying ID scrolls for greens though, no.

Before 60, yes, just be selective and do not ID everything you find if you get low on scrolls. At 60, no. You will have a chronic lack of Greater Identification Scrolls. I can't even ID ten percent of the green items I get in dungeon runs, and I already pass a good portion of the time.
