Gateway: Starting a new task is not allowing assign resources tasks

Initially I was just seeing this with my leatherworker (rogue) but now I am seeing it with all characters across the site. When I try to assign a miner (I have several) to a mining task, the profession slot for the miner never fills. I can collect professional results - say armor or leadership xp, but with the current bug I can't start new tasks.

I've restarted the browser (chrome) and still no change. Did the clear cache thing, etc, with no results.
