Best companion for the common Control Wizard?

So.. at all my other characters the choices were quickly made.. rogue got a tankcompanion, cleric got the dire wolf and meleechars got the cleric.

Now i am wondering.. what would be the best companion for control wizard..

i already figured out healer wouldnt do anything due to the fact that control wizard is made to barely get damaged.
Then i figured surely a tank, but that effectiveness would be countered by the fact that CW already will be CCing alot of the mobs and there arent really tankcompanions that manage to get aggro on multiple mobs nicely.
I also tried alot of damagecompanions like Phoera, Dire Wolf and some more, but the fact that they dont create any aggro is quite painfull in groupfights.

So.. what would you guys think would be the best companion?
(companions bought with alot of AD, Zen or any other currency/item can be choosen.. not just the 3 main ones :P)

Well i play CW and honestly all companions suck. I did use the Direwolf and Healbot, felt the Healbot did the most good tho while lvlingup. However now in epicdungeons i just skip them, they are just in the way. Will try and get a cat (not sure if the cat req. the same bars tho) since that floating stone require tons of bars and i havent seen a single on AH.

Dont get me wrong i do enjoy the idea behind companions it's just not very well made. I guess we will see something like "Companion Patch" Coming soon... later on :D.

I used Phoera. The dire wolf just angered me because his knock back was also so perfectly timed to knock my enemies out of the path of my sudden storm.

Phoera just adds more AoE DPS which as a CW is great. He gets better at pulling aggro once he is 30 and has the AoE DPS permanent skill on. 30 damage a second to all enemies near him. If you just run up to the group and wait 1sec or 2 while dodging once he will have all the aggro on him from that alone and his big AoE fire breath. Then you just pick a target and melt it rinse and repeat.

I use Striker in dungeons because there is no need for more control and it does a ton of damage. I use the tank companion or striker questing. Even if your tank isn't the epic companion it still will hold fairly good threat before it gets 2 shot, allowing dps uptime on the mob. Imo the cleric is overkill for a CW since we have so much survivability with our control abilities.

Any idea on chances to pull a Phoera from a lockbox?

For solo stuff, I use the cleric still. Yes, she is rank 15, my CW is level 60, and she dies every second encounter, but her heals are percentage-based, so she is still useful.

In dungeons I use the Phoera or the dire wolf. I opened about 40 boxes, then just bought the Phoera from the AH for around 300k AD. They are still costing around that much at the moment. It's by far the cheapest T3 companion.

Start leveling the cat. Phoera is also decent. I'd also recommend trying out the man at arms for combat advantage and his ability to get agro.

Everyone in my guild is now using a cat or stone, regardless of class. They're that good.

Yup. I'd say it's worth the headache to grind one up while leveling since they don't have amazing stats to start. BUT, you can always drop baller enchants into them early.

The Cat was crit/recovery, right? What was the stone again?

Power, something, something... sorry, don't remember off the top of my head. But, the main thing about the augment pets is the gear slots. You want 3 extra pieces of gear, right?

Interesting.. the stone is expensive as hell though. For now i will stick with my Phoera then and meanwhile see if i perhaps will get the chance to get stone or at least save up for it for sure :D
Thanks for the tips guys :P

Oh well, I didn't want to touch the 2.6M from the founder packs, nor the 15M I bought at 500:1. :p Then again, I did make 600k through the AH, so perhaps I can just justify taking some from the founder ADs and snatch the cat. I wish it was account-wide.

When you guys talk about a stone pet are you talking about the floating stone or the golem? Also what cat are you talking about? I haven't seen one for sale anywhere.

I got a Cantankerous Mage for his bonus active skill (+CC duration), but it's a PITA lvling him, he constantly uses his AoE push and moves targets around :( as soon as I'm done exping, he'll be unsummoned forever...

    Power/Crit/Recovery.

BTW, the Stone is the best companion for a CW.
