Which one would be more wanted, and which one would do more damage overall? Which one would be more useful?

In the current state? Control Wizard.

Easily CW. It can provide crazy AoE damage while also doing lots of crowd control in the act. Cleric, even fully tuned for dps, I would think would remain subpar. Your going to be splashing some heals either way which is helpful, just keep in mind that heals should be a priority when possible though obviously you won't be able to 'heal carry' like in other games.
GWF level 60 (Beholder) - The pains of leveling!
Cleric level 5X (Dragon) - Holy goblin so much easier!

both are best built tanky in pvp and squishy in pve, for max dps, I recommend rerolling a rogue

    Definitely CW for range.

Depends on playstyle too. CW and rogue are crazy good but I'm just about to 60 with my cleric and solo'd all the way there, bypassing the group dungeons. Only thing about a battle cleric is that you need to be patient but eventually you will overcome every creature and situation. In the few skirmishes that I was in, I usually topped in heals, died the least and usually was close to the top in damage taken while helping to keep the group from wiping.

Here's an example of how a CW can perform against higher level players when focusing on power.
