Try being a GWF. It seems that the stats you want to do decent DPS are the exact opposite of the more commonly found ones ones that seem to contribute to Gearscore.....

You just took the words right out of my mouth. You'll be likely to gain better stats with equipment beyond the required like Heroic and Berserker. I have a hybrid Equip two set equipment, 2 Heroic (Scale and Helm) and 2 Berserker (Bracers and Greaves). Removed the Heroic Duelist's Helm which then removed the bonus 1600 hp as well, replaced with Berserk Champion's Helm but with much greater stats = +279 Power and Crit, +126 Recovery and Deflection, +264 Defense... No Equip 2 set bonus but this is way better than a bonus 1600 hp.

So in all, Gear Score really is a joke... you can't even view others' GS for that matter, which I expect would be fixed in the patch that is currently ongoing.

Thanks for the feedback on this! We're continually working to make the gear score system better. Much appreciated!

Thank you very much for considering this. :)

In my opinion, the summation of all the statistics that your "Gear" gives should be focused on not just the fact that if it is a set, it has a higher Gear Score even though it has clearly lower stats than the equipment you wish to wear.

Again, thanks for the excellent service. :D

Gs is kinda pointless anyway. I am a new 60 with all greens and I out dps a lot of people with better gear. Granted I am TR but I outperform them as well because I am able to avoid dmg and stay on the boss when other party embers are running for their lives with low hp.

GF cheats the GS if youre a damager paragon path it doubles the power
for ex you have 2k power + 2k (buffs)

so yes its meaningless for some class
and adding +HP enchant doesnt add GS

GS = Total stats, nothing else.

What I don't get is that people say you need 11k GS for CN. How am I supposed to do that on a TR? Get the ancient daggers before I even get to the place where I can get them?

I have the complete Master Assassin's gear set with all lvl 5 dark enchantments (I know, lvl 5, I'll replace them with higher ones in the future) and I have vorpal and soulforged. What does that give me, you ask? 10,3k GS. So no CN for me then, I guess.

Yes, GS is a joke.

The highest gear score I ever had on my wizard was when I had PVP gear.

When I got my T2 set my score went down, and then the same with the castle never stuff.

If you want gear score stack hit points in your defence slots, you get about 500 GS for a level 5 enchantment VS 120 for something like defense.

Someone has to explain this mess to me.

I am a person who likes to focus on USEFUL stats. I used the same level 58 rings for a while because I refused to change my nice slotted power/crit/recovery/defense rings (I think one was crit/rec and one was power/defense or crit/defense) to blue rings that had no slot (losing 120crit there) and useless things like life steal and deflection.

I find life steal an insult on a cleric. I find deflection a lot less useful than defense. I consider crit/recovery/defense to be priority and also power if I can get some in. So I focus on gear that has ONLY those and in a very high number. Some of the blue gear has those in lower numbers to add... Oh yes, how could I forget... Armor Penetration/Deflection/Life Steal. HAMSTER.

My gear score took forever to go up simply because I want those important stats. I tested and putting in non-slotted crappy blue items would have gotten it higher. Even though my important stats would have taken a nose-dive and made me less effective.

But then... THEN... I got insult added to injury :D. I met a cleric who had the same gear-score as me. I don't often get paired with another cleric, they seemed healing oriented so I was curious.

1. I had twice the power he had
2. He had 0 crit stat resulting in 11% crit while I had 38% crit I think.
3. I had twice the defense he had
4. I had more recovery than he had
5. He had loads of useless armor penetration, life steal and deflection from wearing blue gear with no slots

Cryptic, get a clue already... The way your GS works is bollocks.

Oh yes, I totally out-DPS-ed and out-healed him despite allowing him most of the time at the trash mobs to place the divinity shield and I only placed it to cover the wizard or myself if we were too far. I understand the out-DPSing, I am a very dps-y cleric. But someone like me spec-ing in the first tree (dps one) should not be outhealing a healing oriented cleric with same GS.

Im fairly sure you dont see other peoples gs. When you inspect other people, its your own gs being displayed. At least thats how i see it. COrrect me if im wrong.

edit: i see others have already pointed out the flaw, thats what i get for not reading the whole thread before posting...

I could craft some lvl 6 for my armor, I guess, and stack some HP. Feels like there are other useful stats you'd like to focus on with a TR but I guess if it gets me into CN...

I've mostly been using dark enchantments so far, so I have a ton of everything else.

GS is supposed to give you a general idea on the persons gear. If you were able to massively out-heal the other healer with the same GS, then be proud of it. No need to complain. People like you who think GS is your virtual peen is the real problem, not Cryptic use of it.

Gear score should be removed period. It's used completely out of context. If someone has 9.8k gs and a group is asking for 10k gearscore, either the healer won't volunteer themselves for the group or won't be accepted. At the end of the day that could be 1 item of gear like a ring that gets upgraded and pushes you over the 10k mark.

Instead of healing for 4k with 9.8k score they will heal for 4.1k, thats not going to make much difference to any fight. If someones health is so low that the extra 100 healing is going to help then chances are a clerics abilities wont keep you alive anyway. I've yet to see an enrage timer on a boss either, where that little extra GS on a dps class would make a difference.
