What is the maximum size of a guild?

What is the maximum size of a guild? I'd really like to get an official answer on this. I've read people definitively say 100 (which I know to be incorrect) and I've seen 500 just as definitively stated. However, the guild I'm in is only allowing a single main character right now due to being unsure what the maximum size is.

    500, my guild is capped and we had to make a second one.
