Half-Elf Dilettante Bonus?

So apparently this is chosen automatically? I saw no option to select which ability I wanted to buff, and when I got in game, I found that my Int was 1 higher.

I'm fine with Int, since it was what I was going to pick, but I thought I'd have an option. At least give an indication during character creation as to what stat is getting the buff, please.

So, in order to have the stat you want you have to reroll your whole character customization until you randomly succeed? Awful design.

Was thinking of rolling a Half-Elf wizard and did some research on this. The good people at Orcz.com have broken down the bonus layout here: http://orcz.com/NeverwinterGDN_Dilettante

And here is the table in case you don't want to navigate away (no promise it formats well):

    Class Dilettante Attribute Increased
    Cleric +1 Intelligence
    Control Wizard +1 Dexterity
    Great Weapon Fighter +1 Intelligence
    Guardian Fighter +1 Wisdom
    Trickster Rogue +1 Intelligence

Ultimately, even though it is not random, you may have stay at the ability score roll screen a bit longer than average to get the ability scores you truly want. In my case, I will be looking for a 9 in DEX with the other points hopefully filling INT/WIS/CHA/CON. Not necessarily ideal, as I wanted to put that extra point in CON for the HP, but it is still workable.

Actually it seems t me you can only roll a certain pre-set group of numbers, I have rolled, re-rolled over and over and numbers eventually all seem to come back to same like theirs only certain sets, u roll six or so and your back to square one, not like the old AD&D video games where when u rolled your stats it was random and you could sit there for hours tryin to roll your perceived perfect stat set. Wish rolls in this game were like the old school way.:o

Thanks for this information. I've asked on the forums a couple of times for clarification on this and yours is the first actual answer I've gotten. They should make this more visible during the creation process and on the character screen so it is clear where the bonus has been placed. Of course, I would like to be able to place where the extra point goes, but this at least answers my question about whether or not I was even receiving the bonus. Thanks again.

There's only a handful of options and it will always focus on your main and secondary scores. I dont enjoy the mechanic either but at least you dont have to roll all day like in some other games with similar systems (maplestory, bleh). Must be some dungeons and dragons thing.

PS. I dont recommend picking the +20 to your main stat since it will give minus stats for all non class scores. Although they might not be all that important when compared to your main and secondaries, they're still needed. Also your important secondary scores will be bad too.
