SYNOPSIS
Prepare yourself for a world of adventure as a rumor in town leads you on the path of something you never imagined! This campaign will contain as much of a branching story as the current foundry will allow. As enhancements are made you can expect me to try to find as many ways as possible to create a "choose your own adventure" style of campaign. User choice is my favorite aspect of any great story!
The first quest, "A Tale of Two Furies" introduces two of the main characters of the story (it all depends on how deep you delve into it if you want to uncover more about the 2nd character!). There is a reasonable amount of combat to keep you interested, and if you are careless in your dialogue choices you just might have a few surprises in store! My best advice is to pay attention!
DISCLAIMER: I did as much as I could as far as combat testing goes since I'm only one person at the moment, but I'd love to know if the encounter spacing is good enough for you to enjoy!
My original plan called for branching objectives based on some key choices, but I was forced to find a backdoor means of creating that avenue until enhancements are made to allow for branching objectives in foundry! Hope you all enjoy this adventure, I'm new to the scenery side of things and REALLY wanted to get something out in the early going so I apologize for any lack of cool customized stuff.
This first quest is more about my first efforts pushing the limits of the story-system over the scenery side, but I will continue updating the scenery as I have more time. Feedback greatly appreciated, especially on these questions! I'll be posting some screens from the adventure tomorrow.
Was the quest too short/long?
Was there too much/too little dialog?
Were the objectives too hard to find? Was there too much exploration?
Did you feel immersed in the story?
Were the boss encounters too hard/easy?
Comments
I managed to complete it, although my poor companion fell during the final fight. Dear, faithful Wesley. Overall, I liked it, it was a nice beginning to the story. Since I knew it might be challenging for a soloist, I pretty much avoided most of the heavier fights when possible. I found the map a little too sprawling and empty (perhaps simply because I was staying off the logical beaten track), although with some nice scenic features like the waterfall and bridge.
I was a bit confused as to what you wanted to achieve with the Blue Robed guy, because I sought him out before I had the final fight with the Mysterious Elf lady and so he was talking to me about how she was dead and gone, and I was acting like I had already defeated her. So perhaps you could have two sets of dialogue for him? One for before the final boss fight in case someone encounters him first?
The last fight was challenging and I went through a few potions but it was fun and definitely doable if played strategically and you don't just stand there in the red power circles/cone etc.
Liked the dialogue touch with the Elf-woman (Sera?) getting turned on by your battle prowess, that gave her a bit of personality.
However, again, I had a weird dialogue answer where I mention Ishmael (whom I end up fighting after the conversation), but she never mentioned his name prior to that, I don't think, so that was like a 'how did I know his name?' moment.
Glad you liked the initial story setup, there's a lot more to come, and I intend to allow my players to use things they acquire from previous side quests to explore different options in the next mission. Off to the races! Thanks for the feedback, it's so hard to test all the options out yourself!
Version 1.3 IS UP! Should address the issue with Selena and the Blue Robed Figure ;-) Go hunt him down now!
