Character missing?

So my friends where watching me play and wanted to try, so we used a USB to transfer the game (naturally i had to be logged out) so after the transfer was completed and my friends made accounts we all logged in, I noticed my character was gone. Pretty upsetting, then we realized my character was on my FRIENDS account. Before you say "oh you jsut logged into his account and played" He didnt have an account until after he saw me playing so its no possible, but for some reason transfering like that seemed to glitch something that cause my character to change...

We're in the process of trying to replicate this with another spare computer, Ill make an update if we manage it.

Would apprecaite if my character could be restored, or if nothing else this is a warning, DOWNLOAD THE GAME NORMALLY!

We'll Now i feel like an idiot, but we realized it may have been made on a wrong account somehow, he pached the game for me while I was at work, Which for some reason requires you to log in. So we now know why it missing, sorry fro the wasted post. Though I think logging in to patch should be changed to avoid future mistakes like this.

This happened to my friend as well. He got timed out and when he logged back in his character was gone.

edit: and for clarification he made sure he was choosing the correct shard. My first thought was that he was on the wrong shard, but nope.
