Would be a real messed up move if Cryptic raised the cap for zen to ad tomorrow :P
Yeah, I don't see that happening. I'm sure Cryptic and PW know that it'll take quite a while for the market to sort itself out. If, say, 3 months or even 6 months down the line the price is still at 500 AD, *then* I'll be (very) concerned about the cap being raised.
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev

Well, they have been consistent with the 50-500:1 range, so it is unlikely to change. The worst case, I think, is if the rate stays high (450+) for a long time, but that's not an actual risk as there is little to lose if that happens.
I really like this aspect (AD/Zen exchange with supply/demand-based rates) of the game. If nothing else, it's interesting to watch!

I was a bit confused by the buy/sell interface... I know where to go to buy zen... at around 1$ per 100 on the website, but was confused at the Buy AD interface. It asked me to enter my own rate? I didn't quite now how to do that nor how to get the best deal. Wouldnt it be better if the market was set?
I felt like I couldnt figure out what the best rate to type in was and there was no indicator? im slow... lol.
And then the beta ends and launch happens and we all have to start over again from zero.
Um...this -is- launch. There is no wipe, there is no starting over, there is no anything else.
NW officially launches tomorrow morning at 9am server. Calling it 'open beta' allows Cryptic to shrug at problems and say, 'it's beta'.

So let me understand as a newb to this process (just started Neverwinter and never dealt with Zen).
If I buy Astral Diamonds via specials (600,000 or 2,000,000) I then sell for Zen at 340 to 350 to 1 = I get 1765 to 1715 Zen or 5883 to 5715 Zen. So for $60.00 or $200.00 I'm paying for about on average $2.90 per Zen both ways according to my math. (I may be wrong but 1765 + 1715 = 3480 /2 = 1740 /$60 = $2.90 or 5883 + 5715 = 11598 /2 =5799 /$200 = $2.90).
I buy Zen at 5000 for $50.00 I am paying $1.00 per Zen.
How is buying Astral Diamonds a better deal? I am not being insulting, I honestly cannot wrap my head around this concept and I really want to understand it.
