The founder pack item Robes of Useless Items drops the item outside of your inventory, on the ground for anyone to pick up. I lost my first one, and experimented on someone else's "bent fork" (without their permission). It was for research!! "Someone else", I apologize for your 3 copper loss.
If you don't own this awesome item and are curious, so far it's given me two 3 copper items. It's appropriately named and not worth the inventory slot.
