Animal companion snuck through secret door - now it can't open

In the Plauge Tower, my animal companion somehow went through the secret door (under the first statue set) before I pulled the handle. Now I keep getting "Unable to perform this interaction at this time" when I try to pull the lever.

    Dissmiss your compainion and try again. Log out and back in.
