Zen costs of some items

So, I've just started and was interested in snatching up a kobold companion. However, upon peeking at the store and Zen costs I see they are a whopping $20? I have to say, that's pretty darn steep by any means, especially for those of us that already dropped $50+ for the game!

I'm also not seeing a lot of concrete information on if they are transferrable or what - as soon as dragonborn is available I'll be swapping characters, so I'm further afraid it'll be $20 wasted on a character I'll only be playing in the interim, so.. :O Just a few thoughts. You guys have some startlingly high price points for your in-game items, I will be hard pressed to be spending $10 or $15 on a bag or some other such item (and quite frankly, won't.)
