So I've gotten a lot farther then I did in in closed betas, and so far I don't like it. All this stuff about the game not being a cash grab or p2w seems to be lies. 4 groups and about 15 wipes and can't clear the lair of a mad dragon. People will say "ohh you just need to play smart, make a pre-made group, dungeons should be hard"...but this isn't end game content. This is a level 35 dungeon. We also wiped about 6 times on the next skirmish, we did eventually clear it...but for what? All you get for running this stuff is a few silver. At level 37 I dont have a single piece of equipment that dropped from a skirmish or dungeon boss. Every single decent piece of gear needs to be purchased with either astral diamonds (or sometimes the area coins).
Now, this isn't entirely a rant session, I dont have a few questions.
1. If anyone has made it to end game, is it any better? If you wipe 30 times clearing content, do you actually get something useful at the end?
2. The Dev's said they cleared the game without zenstore items, what I wasn't thinking at the time was how they probably did this with a pre-made group. Saying that while relying on a group finder function seems dishonest to me. I would like to see the devs clear content in group finder, or admit group finder is worthless with the current difficulty of the game.
Let's pretend like my account name isn't just a random string of characters I got by punching my keyboard.
Go team cannon fodder~
1) Yes HoTN in particular get the shiny at level 60. No, there be no consolation prize for playing poorly & wiping multiple times.
2) Is.....not a question.
i had no trouble clearing cragmire crypts with pug groups, i didn't get as far as the green dragon, and the green dragon is supposed to be hard, but lots of people beat the dragon without needing zen store items.
finding a guild or competant teammates is free.

I suggest going back and soloing or finding a group to clear some previous dungeons that might be easier for you to stock up on gear and seals, get better equipped before trying mad dragon again.

"Yes HoTN in particular get the shiny at level 60". This is exactly my point. Items come from paying money, I know this. What I asked was if end game content actually gives comparable items... because early and mid game content don't.
"finding a guild or competant teammates is free." Creating group finder cost them time and money. If they don't intend on people using it, why did they create it?
I have all of the gear and sigil items available at up to level 35. I even have like 40 sigil of the lion left over, but like I already stated there are only a few pieces of useful gear for trade and I already have them.

Is your gear green, or blue? Green gear is pretty much the bottom of the barrel.
I hate to tell you this, but even groups with green gear have been able to clear the Lair of the Mad Dragon before.
I cleared it in a beta weekend without a Cleric in the group. Random PUG assembled from the qeue system.
Also, "I have all the gear and sigil items available at up to level 35" and "At level 37 I dont have a single piece of equipment that dropped from a skirmish or dungeon boss" are kind of exclusive to each other. Which one is it?

seriously man the game is 2 days in to having a special few people playing it
how about we wait until there are actually people playing the game until we complain about the dungeon finder?
Most people who are complaining aren't using enchantments/wards on their companion or gear. They are also not invoking regularly I haven't spent a dime on those so far, or they are using gear that is basically going to get them killed. What folks don't get is Neverwinter isn't a point and kill game, thought has to go into how you hear and enchant your character depending on what Dungeon you are doing. If people would just take a bit of time to learn the mechanics things will go much easier for them.
Always Looking for mature laidback players/rpers for Dungeon Delves!

Ranncore, my response was specific to AD and seal gear. There is no blue gear that is useful which drops from bosses.
I have about 50/50 green/blue gear. you say green is the bottom of the barrel, yet blue gear either doesnt exist for a slot or is complete garbage.
werealchemist, that is one of my concerns. Right now it is only HOTN people playing. They got boosts, extra stuff, tons of AD, and I would assume that people paying $200 a pop are going to take the game seriously. That means pugs are going to get several times worse once the general population starts playing.
Stormdragon, you probably have a point but the game isnt very clear on some of that stuff yet. Firstly, it costs 20K+ AD to enchant and un-enchant stuff. If I were to do it for every new piece of gear I get, that would cost tons of money. This is in direct contradiction that you don't need to spend money to win. Plus, the best enchant I have has a "chance" to do 1% of my health as damage. It doesn't even say what the chance to proc is.
Let's pretend like my account name isn't just a random string of characters I got by punching my keyboard.
Not to pile on, but every game i've been in from launch has tuning to do, this seems no different. I'm 32 now, and every dungeon i've run has been a cake walk, no deaths, party splitting up, etc. Then i ran that skirmish with the teleporting pirate looking guy. We had one guy disconnected the whole time, and that end fight took over half an hour. I am a control wizard, and he was on me the entire time. even when i stopped attacking, and i ended up not doing the most damage even. What i'm saying i guess is that some of the fights and tactics aren't quite feeling right to me, and will probably change down the road when more people play.
Gear, it's simple, show me in the store where that gear is? I didn't see any. Better gear than you get with starter packs is gotten from tokens or AD, which you can easily get from running content. Making it that way to get gear i like better than waiting for random drops from bosses, since every run will make progress, instead of praying to the random number gods. The end dungeons (or even probably the regular leveling dungeons haven't been run enough for us to know the drop rates, or the programmers to know if they are correct even.

When I said purchase, I was referring to AD. Seals are irrelevant. There are only 4 seals items for level 20ish and 4 for level 30ish and 2 out of each of those 4 are worthless. That means I collected around 80 seals to buy 2 pieces of gear.
The AD gear is good, but that is circular logic. "...which you can easily get from running content". So, your logic is I need AD to buy gear to clear content, but I need to clear content to get AD...thats circular logic. Besides, if you read my posts you would have seen where I said I already purchased all of the seal and AD gear. More to the point, none of this addresses my question. AD only come from dailies, which are generally meant as a bonus.
Maybe I need to re-frame my question. What is the point in dungeons and bosses if they don't drop any decent equipment? They made the instances harder then other MMOs (which I am OK with), but they also took away all incentive for running them. Wit the exception of a few thousand AD for dailys, I have yet to see a single useful thing come from dungeons. Ya, they drop seals...but since there are only 2 things to buy with seals I can get them from the bounty hunter super easy.

Yea there are too many things that make the game not fun unless you keep putting money in and also too many pay to win aspects due to this.
After 1 month this forum will be full of raging $200 pack owners that feel robbed. Mark my words, save this thread as it will happen.
I will pay play free and take my time. Also, the guys defending everything are those mostly that want to feel like they didn't waste money so they will defend it but then later also complain once they are bored and see the $200 was a mistake.

Yes, if there is one thing that goes hand in hand with video games it's manliness. Nothing shows your dedication to living a fulfilling and morally strong life like taking video games super seriously and freaking out when somehow points there are problems in them.

Yeah I am totally happy! The healing debuff to 40% was a good step also. Sure there will be tweaks and fine tuning ahead of us, but so far very impressed with the gradual learning and difficulty curve to be honest!

They are fun to me the first time you run them. Dont really see the point in running any dungeons more then once while leveling since we get better greens 4-5 levels after even with the blue drops. He does have a point that most of the purple stuff seems to come from lockboxes. You can also get some good stuff to level up without spending TOO much AD but i dont find the dungeon drops so far to be even worth farming or getting out of your way to do.

*sees someone playing as Drizzt in full name or a full name taken from another book, or any other number of really, really dumb names*
You would assume. It would be wrong.
