quest path marker goes wrong way

Sometimes my quest path markers will just lead to random locations in the city (not to any quest objective that I currently have)

I check my map and see the quest marker and so I close out of my map and follow the quest path trail/marker and it just leads off in some random direction and dead ends at a spot where there is no quest or quest objective.

Why the heck is this happening??

    I have issues with the 'sparkly' quest path feature as well. I have tried to set this path from the journal - the main map - and by just setting a waypoint but the 'sparkly quest path' seems to have a mind of its own. Any help would be much appreciated.
