Nightmare Lockbox. Open now or when you hit 60?

Greetings,

I was wondering if the item that drops from lockboxes scale to your level? If it does, then I guess you should keep all your boxes till you hit level 60. Any comments on this ?

I don't know about the scaling, but I usually open them as I get them. At least in STO that's what I do. I haven't looted any in NW yet.

I want that nightmare horse. This is the first time I'm willing to buy some keys. (In STO, I get free Zen every month, so I don't mind spending it).

That's a great question. Lockboxes are (kind of) a new mechanic for me, as I stopped playing CO and STO before they went FTP. I don't recall seeing them in any of the beta weekends. Where do they drop? What do you get from them? Is there any way to open these without spending real world cash?

I have 4 of these nightmare lockboxes that I got last night and the means that the chances of getting the horse are going to be very small if boxes are dropping that much. Especially with each key costing you 1.25$

I will probably wait and use Astral Diamonds to convert them into Zen to buy the keys.

Buy zen with astral diamonds and you won't have to spend real world cash.

So far I've been getting trade bars(forget the actual name T something) Chance of astral diamonds, chance of mounts, chance of companions, and chance at both player and companion enchantment stones. One of the companion ones I got was a 3.5% bonus xp for him. So slightly faster companion leveling. It's good since I'm trying to learn as much as I can about companions for my guide.

The nightmare lockboxes seem to drop randomly. I recieved 2 just following the quest line. Then I got another doing the daliy foundry mission quest. I did open one of them and got some nice level 11 bracers (blue color) Im guessing that if I waited to level 60 I wouldn't have to farm for tier 1 or 2 dungeon gear. (there are seals on vendors for this)

No word of scaling yet but maybe when i hit 30 ill open one of my lowbies to see uf its lvl 10-15 or 30
