Am I the only one a lil peeved that its set at a hard rate of 1 zen? The system is very...different than what I was expecting. A player puts up a 'pool' of zen and other players can just buy from that pool at the players rate, usually 500AD, but the ratio is hard capped at 1zen, so its 500AD for 1zen, meaning to get 2 zen you need 1000AD, so on and so forth...
I was expecting "Hey, here is 500zen, buy it all for 1000AD" or something along those lines...I'm just sitting here thinking "holy HAMSTER you can buy A LOT of AD for ZEN now...". I'll admit, this is my first MMO ever, but it just seems a little...odd to have such a set in stone ratio for AD to ZEN, with what I believe the lowest you could sell zen for AD was 50AD for 1 zen?
Anyone out there know more about this to calm my fear of "I can just buy 2milAD with like 20$ hurr hurr hurr."
Keep in mind that absolutely everyone playing right now started with 2,000,000 AD but not everyone started with Zen. The market is horribly out of whack because AD is seriously devalued due to the overabundance everyone has. When the 30th rolls around and a bunch of players start playing with zero start AD the price will shift and AD will become more valuable.

You want some kind of Kmart deal of buy 4 receive 5? No. Leave it as is. It works fine in STO. Really have no idea what you are posting out it's l over the place.

yes, if you are looking to 'stock pile ZEN' this would be the time to do it, Supply of AD is High, and Demand for ZEN is high too - I was looking to 'cash in' a bit on this myself - but was somewhat thwarted, by the fact that they put an 'upper cap' of 500 AD per Zen on the market.
That was a smart move of course, but, ... well, I was looking forward to some HUGE gains.
that 'should' put a 'calmer' on your fears, of being able to buy 2 mill AD for $20, as the cap as it is right now, means that the 'best' AD deal you could do would be ~$40 worth of ZEN for 2 mill AD. Does that help?
If the Cap was lifted, I can't imagine where the prices would be!
but, withen 4 weeks, it should drop back to a 'normal' sort of price.. I'd guess somewhere between 150 AD per Zen to 300. (I'm totally pulling that number out of the air of course.)
by the way... just for information sake, the 'low' cap is 50 AD per Zen FYI.
Thanks,

I've spent the past few weeks playing STO to get a sense of the sort of system they're going for here. Even after everyone burns through their pre-order diamonds, don't expect any miracles. The idea is to make it possible to acquire Zen through astral diamond conversion, but preferable to simply pay for it -- the grind is so slow that most people will be tempted to open their wallets instead.
You will need to be a very patient player to acquire any big-ticket items from the Zen Market without forking over real money, i.e. able to tolerate weeks of slowly plugging away at it.
For what it's worth, during my brief time in STO so far, it's hovered at around 130 dilithium (that game's equivalent of diamonds) per one Zen. I'm not sure how wildly the market fluctuates there.

You can refine only 8k dilithium in STO, in Neverwinter is it 4x more i guess (not playing until 30th). So it will act quite differently (= Zen will be more accessible but not in coming days).
