    Same error here but it crashes at the game start when going fullscreen with a msi g series laptop and GTX 660M

    I was constantly getting crashes and driver hangs until I went through almost all the setting one-by-on.

    DX11 + High Shadows == CRASH

    When I use DX9 or DX9ex I can use High Shadows.
    When I use DX11 and No/Low Shadows all is fine.

    GPU: R9-290 4GB or R9-290X 4GB
    CPU: FX-8350
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate sp1 x64 and Windows 10 Pro x64 and Windows 10 (1511 Update) Pro x64
    Drivers: All drivers tested for last 1.5 years, including all Betas.
    (two different Motherboards, three fresh installs)

    Sample Crash Reports:

    "Fatal Error: Direct3D driver returned error code

    This happens in DX11, but has also happened in DX9.

    The bug that was causing this issue has been found and will be addressed in an upcoming release. We know it's been very unpleasant, and we are sorry it took so long to address it.

    Try this in the launcher OPTIONS/Command Line

    -d3d9ex -usesm20b or
    -d3d11enable 0 -usesm20b

    As i am now rolling with a toaster(low end) of a GPU for awhile, cos my new GPU got flat out burned. Might alleviate some problems with a new GPU too.

    Seems to work for me, with no major issues, crashes, errors, ingame graphics issues, etc.
