There is, when you are positioned behind a mob, under its feet there is a white half-circle that turns blue when you approach enough. That is when you know you have combat advantage. You can't stay too far away or you won't get combat advantage though, you need to be close, almost in melee range.

You know you deal CA damage when your (non-critical) damage numbers show a small sword next to them. Critical Hits always show a lightning bolt. While you'll only see the half-circle indicator in melee range, you're still able to deal CA damage outside that range.
You still need to be close to your target. When I was blasting mobs from too far away, my Cleric was not getting any combat advantage, but as soon as I closed in the swords (not the lightning bolts) next to the numbers appeared.
The Combat advantage damage is signaled by a sword next to it; lightning bolts show critical strikes.

Half-circle Indicator is CA - check.
Sword next to dmg number is CA - check.
Lightning bolt next to dmg number is Crit - check.
I really wish they had an ingame Glossary for this stuff,
Thanks guys.
Ive done CW but never seen damage next to the sword, just saw lightning and normal thing.
Isnt it really hard to get CA with CW?
Well, if you're leveling solo, it's incredibly difficult, since you don't have anyone to flank the mob with. You have a companion, sure, but they're most likely going to be attacking the mob on the same side you are.
Other than that, like erideita said, you have to be within a certain distance apparently (which I didn't know about, and will be testing just how far away I can be during OBT).

Not hard to do solo, kill the trash mobs normally. Freeze or choke main mob and teleport behind and nuke, rinse & repeat.

What does Combat Advantage do exactly once you have it?
I assume its a damage bonus, but how much?
