Its a funny class to play in domination with the pushback power being broken but rouges still have a greater edge in killing potential. I played a CW this weekend in PvP and was just having fun pushing people off the nodes
i find this complaint silly because a proper rogue wouldn't attack out of stealth.
if a rogue got behind a cw with stealth he'd be dead before he could tap that q key!

I don't expect that beta weekend pvp'ers really know what they are doing for the most part (I sure didn't the one time I tried it - a quest told me to), so while that is a good record, you have to know you were playing against the softest opponents you will ever see in Neverwinter PVP. I was spanked repeatedly (as a Control Wizard) by a certain rogue, who himself had over 20 kills and zero deaths.
Don't read too much into a single game result, overreaction to comments like this (if the Devs see this and say: "yeah, lets nerf CW") are really bad.
Now if you can blow away quality teams upon release with CW with too much consistency, then come back and report your results (and, if you don't mind, methods .

That's a good point. As to Tyler though, if i can sit in the middle node and slaughter face with out dying once, even to rogues, and kill 29 people while occasionally capturing other nodes resulting in a 1000 - 600 point game, it is a bit overpowered. Not to mention being able to sit on the upper levels of a map and freeze and stun and control people from range with them not being able to do anything in return. Or any diminishing returns. LoL Try running around with a CW friend of yours and chain your stun controls on someone and watch them leave their keyboard cause their character cant do a **** thing.

From the 30 bracket, rogues don't have a big problem to kill a CW if the wish. The do more dmg, can disable all your powers and even if you use shield in pvp (I don't use it in pve) you will lose in that time ~80% of you hps before you can use your powers again.
So yes in the 10-19 bracket we can HAMSTER off all other classes easly. Playing myself a GWF agains a CW is just painful.
However over the time, it changes. I can do high dmg (spec for it) and if the ignore me, well to bad for them.
But you should know, that other classes have counters for us. A cleric that did not pickup the cleanse feat to get rid of our debuffs has no place in a pvp match but yes it takes some time before the have access to it.
We start strong in pvp (quite funny, we start weak in pve) but overall in the 30-39 bracket it feels way more balanced.

Well i didn't get my CW that high, i played in the 21-29 bracket with it. In that bracket it dominated to the point i just laughed and had to stop playing PVP with it.
If it balances out more in later levels than that's cool.
CW do such terrible damage. Shooting somebody with magic missiles is laughable at how little damage it does to their health bar. In between force choke push and freezing their damage potential is awful.
The Duke thinks everyone should ignore this post. This person has not weighed any of the actually PvP realistically. Post like this make it hard for Dev to balance. Thumbs down...
1. Also level 20 bracket PvP means nothing...
2. You make many outrageous claims throughout your argument. Such as you can sit up top and control people without them being able to do anything. Not true, many melee classes have closer moves that let them move to the target. So your statement is not well thought out.
3. Not many people that were PvPing these weekends knew what they were doing. So it was not competitive at all. Cannot make claims for classes in a non competitive enviroment.
4. Control Wizard does have great control, but not great damage. The Duke feels that nothing should be changed with them and they should be tested more before anything is decided.
5. If you want to start a discussion about balancing of classes. Make it actually worthwhile and back up your statements with logically arguments. Not just ROFL WIZRAD NERF this nerf that! That is how games end up broken.
OP - what part don't you understand?! Control Wizard is to control the crowd, and it's not a nuke class. Rogue on the other hand is a burst class with high crit hit. It's a D&D game, not like WoW. Get it? Ok? Stop.. whining.

For what i remember from original D&D d20 based-game manuals, sorcerer and wizards are the highest damaging base classes (you can achieve something like 70d6 spell damage with a correct talents and feats combo at level 10), followed by barbarians (something like 208 damage with a single crit strike while using the powerful attack talent at level 10) and rogue's crits/hits/feats (and then at higher levels clerics come in with some OP divine spells)...So considering this is a D&D game i can't get why wizards should make no damage when they can do loads of.
Btw, if you check pvp vids of other classes ya'll see wizards getting badly pwned, so it's kinda player's skill dominant, damages apart.

#1 sure okay what ever =P level 60 pvp is the only one that matters. Forgive me for not playing 72 hours straight during BW4 to get to max level.
#2 Melee closers will not take them to the top levels of the map to get to the control wizard if they are say on the bridge above the middle control point.
#3 I don't care for e-sports or other games of that notion, i PVP to take a break from normal PVE stuff.
#4 I certainly never had a problem killing anything. If I can keep someone locked down practically indefinitely than what's it matter if it takes me a little longer than a rogue to kill it? It's still a one sided fight.
#5 I didn't feel like writing a thesis statement about a beta class when there are already novels written about them by other testers.
As far as what Earlucious said, I agree, this game more than other's is a little more player skill than anything. In the hands of a decent player the CW seemed too powerful in my eyes. There is NO DIMINISHING returns for cc, and as such two control wizards can lock out multiple players from being able to fight at all and they will thus just die.
Agreed, saying a class is over powered cus you did well in low lvl pvp is ridiculous. Don't post on a classes abilities as over powered till you've actually thoroughly played it.
