Why start with sneak attack?

Why do rogues start with the sneak attack ability? It gives you 10% run speed increase while in stealth but you don't get stealth until level 10.

It seems like a more sensible class ability to start with would be First Strike (which increases the damage of your first attack) or Tactics (increased AP gain).

    Agreed,

And while you're moving sneak attack later, change it to something else.

I would prefer tactics moved up over first strike. I can't see ever grabbing 5% on my first attack...that's silly in PVE.

First strike + Blitz/Whirlwind of blades when you come rolling into a pack of mobs can have a devastating effect.

In dungeons I like to stealth>whirlwind of blades>blitz on packs of more than 5

the AP boost from whirlwind of blades makes blitz get even extra silly

or in a pack with a boss or elite: stealth>whirlwind>blitz>shadow strike>stealth>deulist's flurry (on big guy)>flourish 1 or 2 times>Lashing blade.

I usualy only use that when soloing or in dungeons with large pack after large pack (pirate dungeon especially)

Tactics was locked in the second I got it, and my other one floated between tenacious concealment, first strike, and invisible infiltrator once I got it. I think end game it'll likely be invisible infiltrator + tactics, unless one of the other paragon trees offers something better.
