As per title, I know they can be used in the AH, but where else do they work in the game?

Your supossed to be able to use them to buy Zen which is something that is used to buy some things in game. Unfortunetly I can't figure out how to buy the Zen
When I try to exchange my Astral Diamonds for Zen it says I have an "active listing". How do I actually buy them?

Other players have to put up offerings of Zen for astral diamonds. Last I checked, there were no offers. It is not like GW2, in this game players have to put up their own Zen.

    Cheers!

Lots of things in game can/must be purchased with astral diamonds (ADs). All the gold merchants in the marketplace have an AD trader (merchant) standing next to them and they sell armor, weapons and jewelry. Rush training for companions, as well removing runestones from companions cost AD as well.

Removing enchantment stones from gear will also cost AD, as well as item remodeling (re-skinning), which was actually quite expensive. I'm not sure if it scales with level to remodel, but at level 50, was 10-16,000ish AD--just to change the appearance of an item.

Identify scrolls, teleport scrolls and some other items seem to be only purchasable with AD. So yeah, lots of stuff.

Yep you can buy most stuff with diamonds or gold from merchant shops.
