It should already exist. The "Save UI" and "Load UI" buttons on the Options window should allow you to copy your HUD and game options from one character to another. For your keybinds, you can use the /bind_save_file command in chat to save them and /bind_load_file to load them.

Would be more user-friendly to not have to input commands into chat though

Yeah it's sorely needed for those who prefer an alternate set-up.
I personally have no issue which the keys as presented but playing with one of my best friends who happens to be a left handed person who won't accept the fact she has a right hand was not fun. I had a good ten minute chew my ear off conversation about how she spent bla bla bla bla setting up the bindings the first time and now she needs to do it alll over again and bla bla bla bla bla this is ridiculous bla bla bla...
I don't get people complaining about WASD and switching the settings to finger cramping settings like left trigger to walk forward ( I read this on the forums I swear) but I can understand a left handed person not wanting to adjust the settings to IJKL or something else on the other side of the keyboard.
And those types of settings should absolutely save.

Yeah we lefties are pretty much used to remapping things to suit us.
To the previous poster, I did not know you could save key binds to a file, so that's very useful info, thank you for that! I'll give it a try this weekend.

Hold on a sec....do most left handed people use their left hand for the mouse?? If so, I've been doing "it" wrong for decades!
It's interesting, my guess is that it is around 50/50. Some lefties make the switch, others just live with it on the right.
I started the practice very, very early on (like back to the Mac SE I think, first computer I owned with a mouse), so now I am very comfortable with it on the left. But I know lefties who never switch and when they use my computer are flummoxed and surprised I like it on the left.
The bind commands are just a real boon, thank you frogurt for sharing those out!

I hope you implement this. So i don't have to redo my settings on my new characters. ALOT of settings btw.
There are a couple ways of saving keybinds. Assuming they keep the commands the same in NW. (They should since it's the same game engine).
/bind_save - to save to a default file name
/bind_load - to load from the default file name
/bind_save_file c:\path\to\save_file.txt - Save to a file name of your choosing
/bind_load_file c:\path\to\save_file.txt - Load from a file name of your choosing
Simplest way is to type '/bind_save' into chat window on the character you have perfected your keybinds. Then do a '/bind_load' in chat window for any new character that you create.

I was little bummed about key binds being set to only that character.
Actually it a good thing. Cryptic has a pretty extensive macro system in their client. You can actually bind macros to keys if you know how. I used this extensively in City of Heros for complex characters (like the multi-form Peacebringer and Warshade Archetypes). I'd use the same key for for certain things on character. But the commands to do them were different from character to character. It was nice to have my "OH SH**T!!"" power sequence on the same key for every character. I would not have been able to do that with server wide keybinds.

I have never considered using a mouse on the left side personally and I have never seen left handed people do it in person. I work with 10 or so left handed people and they all use a mouse with their right hand and have no issues with it. I don't think any of them would even consider using a mouse with their left hand.
But I have found quite a few people online who would seem to be just as content if their right arm was cut off or something and refuse to accept the fact it can function with some practice haha.
Everybody is different. All I know is that my opinion on this matter is biased. I think everybody would benefit from having their main hand bound behind them for a week straight at some point in their lives haha.
I think most people would be surprised how much they *can* do with with their off hand if they can't use their main hand.

Awesome, thank you for that! (Same syntax as City of Heroes, will be totally easy to remember!) Also, I didn't know the "save UI" button would capture key-binds, for some reason those are two separate things in my head.

In previous games I always set movement to the number pad (so I could move with my right hand), and used my left hand on the top-row numbers for power execution. Since that obviously won't work with this game, I finally had to actually give WASD another try.. only to find that it just doesn't work for me. (Having the forward key be "above" the turn and reverse keys means I hit the wrong key every time.) I eventually just bound forward to S and backward to X. I still hit the wrong key sometimes but I'm learning. (And then of course I changed about half of the other key-binds to suit my play style. And then wrote down all of those binds so I could implement them on other characters.)
As a lefty I decided early on that I'd use a mouse with my right hand. This would save me the problems when i have to 'help friends/family' with their computer. Now I do move wasd to asdf before I bought my N52.
And today I noticed the whole save ui. I didnt think the keybinds would have saved as well.
Open the Launcher. Click Options near the top. Check Disable on-demand patching. This will download another couple of gigs.

Hello fellow Paragonian! I agree, being able to save specific bind files is better than having universal key-binds, in general. However it seems that the available options for power selection are so narrow, that it might make sense in this game to have the same bind file for all toons. Basically, the "HOSHISHI!!" power can be on the same spot in the tray for every character. Still, I agree, better to be able to save individual files. Of course I had separate bind files for my PB and my WS, and then my default bind file, plus another one for MMs. And every toon had one or two binds that were specific to them.
And THEN I learned about popmenu, and keyboard shortcuts, and it was SO AWESOME. I had all my goodies tucked into a popmenu that could be access on all characters, gosh that was wonderful. So for example, the minus key would bring up the popmenu, then I'd hit S for the Summon sub-menu, and the L to summon the leprechaun. Instantly I'd have the targeting reticule so I could summon the pet, without taking up space in my tray, and without having to create a specific bind for the leprechaun alone. I had other vanity pets in the summon menu, a costume change emote menu, a "Fun" menu (flying disc, fireworks), and other menus, all of which could be assigned letters on the keyboard like a normal file menu keyboard shortcut. It was SO WONDERFUL.
Actually.. If there are any former Paragon Studios devs over here.. can we please get popmenu in this game too? I know it was never supposed to be used by players in the first place, but that was so fantastic! Instant access to dozens of emotes and powers, without taking up room in my trays, or needing to bind specific keys. Please? Oh pretty please, with honey on top?

This is actually REALLY good exercise for your brain. Any time you do complex tasks with your off-hand, it's excellent for your mental health! So try brushing your teeth or eating a meal with your off-hand!

It would be better to have a simple button to save binds..... But this is going to help me a ton, thanks!
