My adventures first begin in '82 with my D&D Red Box. Oh, the many hours I spent reading, rolling, and playing D&D. Fueled by Tolkien, Eddings, and Brooks as a young middle school lad, I dreamed of adventures. I can still recall White Plume Mountain as the party sought the Soulstealer. Then we began developing our own adventures. With a tearful eye, I still remember being devastated when my Paladin, on his quest for his Holy Avenger, met his ultimate (and untimely) demise because he failed to look up when he entered a cavern chasing hell spawn. The tentacles of a carrion crawler swiftly wrapped around his neck and a failed saving throw sealed his fate. Another time, while expanding my gaming world, I adventured with a new gaming group. With my young Dwarven fighter standing watch en route to retrieve a kidnapped princess (as corny and cliche as we can be in 8th grade), the party was ambushed by goblins. A cry of pain from a vile gobby arrow, which was supposed to be an alarm to the rest of the adventures, brought more goblins to my stout Dwarven fighter. The DM smirk as he thought his minions would be more than my Dwarf could handle. With his trusty battle axe swinging and my Dwarf charging, I crit rolled consecutively to save the day. Definitely a found moment. (Although, I believe my lotto chances we used up that special Saturday night.)
I have since continued to played D&D with my friends, who meet with me semi-monthly in my garage. Yes, a small band of 40+ yr olds, laugh, tease, talk trash, and roll our way through some serious campaigns! My wife has affectionately named our group the 40 yr old Virgin Dragonslayers. While real life has a way of distracting from the important things...like RPGs, I found my a to get my gaming fix through MMOs.
I have played EQ (6 years), EQII (2 years), DDO (1 year), LoTRO (Life account), WOW (6 years), and WAR (2 years). I played Rift Beta only. Of all the games that I have played, I am most looking forward to this one. I suddenly feel like a young kid again who is excited about a coming gaming session with his friends.
Hi there, I have to ask did you ever play WoW on the Gnomeregan server anytime from 2008-2012?(It was the server I was on while going through cancer treatment, I played most every day for a while.)
Anyways, youll come to find I have a problem on this forum where I have to try to Welcome everyone I can(Im not sure if its really a problem but oh well)
Hail and well met brave adventurer and welcome to the Neverwinter forum!
If in your journey you seek a guild to aid you on your way, then might I suggest you make your way to the that notice board over there and look at the Directory of the Founder Guilds of Neverwinter as I'm sure you will find something that will take your fancy as DeathsSickle has suggested.
Additionally, if you should be seeking a friendly guild that is accepting of all and already has a strong presence in Neverwinter, then might I suggest you look at my own guild, The Neverwinter Knights as we may well be what you seek. All the best.
Good to see more people older than me joining. I need to feel young!
Indeed rescuing a princess is a pain. Recently playing a cormyr campaign I was asked to - I asked why?
She cannot be pretty, I mean it is a very small sample - one family - compared to a large sample of Cormyr kingdom. She cannot take care of herself and gets kidnapped too. Not to mention she would be surely haughty being pampered and having servants do her work. So instead I gave up on the quest and took up helping locals with local troubles.
