Neverwinter is based in the Forgotten Realms which is a fictional alternate world that has been published as a campaign setting for Advanced Dungeon & Dragons (AD&D), Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) 3rd Edition D&D, and 4th Edition, by TSR, and Wizards of the Coast. The primary focus of the setting is the continent of Faerun, part of the world of Abeir-Toril. Neverwinter is also known as the Jewel of the North, is a metropolis sitting on the Sword Coast of Faerun just south of Luskan.
It was originally created in 1967 as a setting for short stories by Ed Greenwood. Mr Greenwood is also the writer for the Shandril's Saga, Elminster series, The Cormyr Saga, as well as many others. He is also the known to add worked on many Adventures, Boxed sets, and sourcebooks.
