Maybe it's due to the lack of availability in last weekends beta and gameplay footage, but noone seems to be hyped up about the GWF. From the looks of it, he's going to be an AoE melee powerhouse. I played a Barbarian in in DDO and currently play a Berserker in Tera, and I love it. There's nothing like pulling tons of mobs and spinning through them all, tearing them to pieces.
I can't imagine what other classes could currently compete with the GWF in terms of sheer AoE dmg at this point..
The Guardian is the obvious choice for tanking.
The Trickster is likely going to play into single target bursty backstab crits.
Cleric is gonna mainly be the Healer/Support.
And the Control Wizard.. well, I guess he's just gonna be consistent ranged DPS with control in the form slows and knockbacks.
Now, these are all just educated guesses and assumptions from playing multiple MMORPGs in the past.. but what are your thoughts on the GWF utility? My best guess is that the GWF's main utility in groups will be that he can quickly clear trash mobs while the rest of the group focuses on the primary target.
Your right, It wasn't in Beta this time so you don't have anyone to talk about it. When it shows up in Beta you will see some love...and probably some hate. Haters gonna hate. I plan on playing GWF at release and to the wee hours of the morning.
I'll do some Theorycrafting with you.
I expect GWF to have impressive AoE Feats and Powers. I also expect him to have slower, very powerful single target damage Feats and Powers as well. My only concern is his synergy and flow. I'm super curious what the GWF Tertiary and Utility Powers will be. (Shift and Tab). Will he get a leap or dodge similar to the Cleric and Rogue? All that will come to pass here in...what feels like eternity, but over the next couple months. Can't wait.
Since many people leveled all three classes during the last beta weekend I bet you will see mostly GWF and Wizards when they are released for testing. The GWF will get plenty of 'love'. The reason so much is being posted regarding the Guardian is that it is the only fighter we have any real data on.
"...use Sprint, a rechargeable Utility Power, to close the distance on anyone attempting to escape their fate and deal the finishing blow!..."
Based on the article, the GWF's utility power is a "Sprint" ability, which seems to be in line with the utility powers of other non-blocking class/builds (i.e. Slide/Shift for Cleric, Dodge Roll for Rogue, Teleport for Wizard).
don't worry. damage fighters are always among the most played classes in ANY mmo. it won't be any different here ^^. so there will be a lot of love after the next beta weekend
