While I realize that two character slots for f2p players is pretty much on par with other MMO's I feel that with the way classes are being handled in this game, it will become even more of an issue than in others. This is of course just my opinion but while they've given various reasons for creating classes the way they have I believe one of the primary, unmentioned reasons is to sell character slots. There's nothing inherently wrong with this decision, the issue I have is that the classes a lot of people want to play won't be available at release. If you're looking to play a Sorcerer or Ranger, you'd better either save one of those character slots for it's eventual release or choose between deleting an existing character or shelling out for an additional slot.
Again, I'm not opposed to the idea in general, I just think it has affected the way they've chosen to create and release classes. Is there really a reason they couldn't have allowed us to simply choose a basic class and develop it as we wish?
For me it depends on the pricing of character slots. I know they have stated you do not have to spend a dime on this game to get the featured cash shop items/benefits. This means you can effectively buy extra slots with the astral diamond/zen exchange much like GW2 has and I used it buy 3 additional slots in that game with gold and spend $0.
I can only level one character at a time, and I hope by the time I play the first two slots to max level I will have enough to buy a third etc..
Depends on the pricing though.
There is a rumor floating around that I am working on a new foundry quest. It was started by me.
I disagree, TC. I believe the class structure has more to do with ease of programming - the current structure is VERY similar to Champions Online's Archetypes, so I'm willing to bet they copied that code, made a few adjustments and called it a day.
I honestly see nothing malicious about it. The choice of only five starting classes, however, I believe to be a whole different manticore - be prepared for almost every post-launch class to be on the C-store for a very significant sum.

So make more accounts to play the other classes and races?
