On the quest to acquire your initial companion, I completed the mission, choosing the cleric companion. My inventory was full. The mission completed successfully, and after the dialog for this flash by, there was the red error message saying my inventory was full (which it was).
The companion goes into the inventory as an item, so I did not receive it as a result and could not complete the next step of the quest (use the inventory item to acquire the companion.). I had the overflow bag appear earlier, but in this instance, it did not come up for the remainder of my play time, rendering the quest impossible to incomplete and also leaving my character without a companion, which is a pretty serious drawback.
I attempted to abandon the quest to see if I could pick it back up, but I could not re-aquire the quest. This occurred on a tiefling thief character.
