And the big question everyone is going to ask...

"Does the 00:46-00:55 segment refer to closed or open beta?"

    :D

At leeast he said two things clearly (If you speak or translated French I guess:)

    1. He mentioned Beta would start early 2013 and no mention of the end of 2012. Sorry for those holding out hope.
    2. He mentioned to check the official site playneverwinter.com to see the upcoming "Beta release schedule"...yeah that translated right on the subtitles, I think. An "upcoming Beta release schedule" means they are releasing something likely soon if he meant upcoming as our North American term "soon" does.

But I could be reading into things.

Could be either he says "la beta" which means "the beta".

Well at the rate of respecting the announced dates until now, early 2013 will mean April-May?

So i am speculating the game will release on my birthday ... in July, oh what a wonderful birthday gift. *squee*

I was thinking the same thing about my birthday, too! Except mine's in December. December 2013? July 2013? I wonder which is more likely...

Or they could just by stalling for the apocalypse later THIS year....

It's great they want to present us a polished game but they need to stop pushing the dates back or at some point they will have to release the game at the same time as various other games which will compete with them.

Seems to me as of now there not much that can get in the way of NWO, DDO has many many bugs to fix (which many peeps are getting sick of), GW2 has many peeps that are getting bored and looking to other games (even some of the fanboys agree on this) and other are screaming bloody murder because of the new fractal dungeons, TSW welp is not doing ( Funcom is in trouble and is in the process of being bought out by EA or activision or some such) great, Dunno but looks like this would be a good time for NWO to rear its head.

I mean if they wait too long they have the chance of running into TESO, ArcheAge, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn not to mention a bunch of interesting indie games coming soon....

Shhh, we haven't found the cultists responsible for the delay and killed them preventing this yet!

Wait, was this PM or post....what am I worrying about; they only read their own "polarized doom blogs" anyway!

Wait, Funcom IS trying to get sold? So they are in worse trouble then I thought?

And I think the PRE-ALPHA TESO is nowhere near completion, as much as they may want to let others think otherwise. When I start seeing demos that are playable, I'll then believe they are ready for an Alpha trasnsition, let alone beta.

ESO, Archage, and FF XIV will have hardly any if zero impact on NW. ESO... MAYBE have some slight impact as they both are arcadeish play style possibly. Those games are a completely different breed. NWO will call out the D&D fans, modders, and the F2P crowd in addition to the general MMO crowd. DDO is the only real competition with NW but I would hardly call that competition. I forcibly stomach DDO with all the drastic deviations from PnP, bugs galore, long unfulfilled promises (enhancement overhaul or hell just completing a PrE like how the Cleric only has radiant Servent which even that is incomplete), HAMSTER lag, and how when they finally do release new content one plays through it all without batting an eyelash and is back to farm farm farmsville.

While I wish that NW would release after DDO's enhancement overhaul (which at the current rate it likely wont be seen till 2014) I'm ready for NW to come out. Gawd I hope that it hits the shelves in spring and not late summer or in the fall.

Yes they are. They've hired not only a merger firm but also what seems like a financial catalyst. Some one said on MMORPG.com that means it is a serious thing. But is it all that surprising? Their stocks at an all time low, TSW lost their prominent story board writer even though he remains as a 'consultant,' and how TSW did not sell as stellar as they hoped for. Dark times ahead for TSW for those that play it I'd wager. Just pray that EA doesn't acquire Funcom or that'll be the death toll to the game.

I disagree I play many styles of games yet I only play 2 games at once at most and always leave one behind once I have decided which I prefer. Losing players isn't "just" about play-style but also about what is available out there.

This is what I am saying if they push back to late 2013 they may run into much more competition than they have right now, timing is everything.

Pushing it to 2014 would be a meh idea, oh just as an aside this game won't be any closer to PnP than DDO is from what I have seen about it.

This game might not be close to PnP but DDO's recently bastardized revision of the d20 system is just stupid and ludicrous. To try to make their antiquated attempt at action combat more interesting and casualize armor class they removed the d20 system from attack rolls and AC, making your attack modifier basically not matter at all because virtually every swing that's aimed right is a hit. That means that AC is pretty much meaningless and all your damage mitigation comes from the type of armor you are wearing (like every other MMO made, ever).
I don't mind straying from rules but DDO's attempt at somewhere in-between and half-assed, incomplete revision is just stupid. Just take the d20 out of there if that's what you're trying to do.
I doubt NWO will even have attack rolls and armor class, as it's an action-combat MMO, so swinging/dodging blows is wholly up to the player and not numbers on a character sheet. Which honestly works a lot better, feels more natural and involved than a die system and I don't mind this deviation at all. Things have to be changed for DnD games to work in a computer game.
It's just that DDO changed too little, too late, and, like everything Turbine does, is only half finished.

As long as NWO captures the DnD "feel" (which for me is a dark environment, serious stories, grimy, gory, and named items over randomized loot - this is a big one, I don't know about you guys, but half the fun of the DnD books was looking through all the cool items in the back of the DMG) I don't mind missing out on a d20 attack roll/AC system.
Oh, and the Foundry - duh. That goes a long ways in capturing the DnD feel. Making your own adventures.

I might be tempted to try out DDO again after the enhancement pass comes, but seeing as how you have to pay for enhancements post-level 20 now, I wouldn't be surprised if they start charging for new prestige paths. Not to mention they will release it half finished as a bug ridden mess.

With Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition I'll have enough DnD to tide my craving over until NWO comes out without feeling even the slightest tinge of remorse for having left behind my max level, fully epic geared characters in DDO.

I'm mostly in agreement with this statement, however, that'd give them crazy extra time to get the polish soaked into the wood.

But more time delayed means games released that actually relate to this game and steal from their market. Best for sometime in 2013 whether early, near/at the mid-year mark or just before 3rd quarter at most.

My opinion, no secret Gnomes of Zurich whispering the info to me. But that would be cool if it were true!
