God that spell looks awful. I hope we can get a way for it to shoot more then one bolt at least... And what everyone else been saying, the animation for combat looks like some Martial Arts Class.

Sorry, it's a one target spell in game so there's no way they can do multiple missiles, nor are they redoing the remodeling. What I can say is there are other at wills I saw on the power tree screenshots so it looks like we can replace it down the line. Hmm, I wonder if that's because we can specialize our powers with feat trees or anything....

Can you link these screenshots, please?

Actually, if you mean the powers screenshots, I got them from video months ago from links like Gamescon and other stuff. I didn't keep them current when they weren't asked so I will see if I can bring them back...ahh, here's one, starting from the time captured in this link. The GamesCon/ESL I use mainly fior character creation and backgouund but it shows MM and other wizard powers in action rather tthan the "powers screenshots" windows. I'm sure other viewers have their favorite powers screens to show and will gladly delegate that while I have to manager other things, but if I retrieve more screens of this I will post them again here!
Yeah i hate the way they have buthered my alltime favorite spell in DnD. Now i did accept the lose of Chromatic Orb along time ago. But to reduce the MM spell to a one bolt hit? Im sad. Please tell me we can replace it with something cool like Cloud of Dagger instead.

One hundred percent with you on the Cloud of Daggers, but the public knows D&D wizards by Magic Missiles, and they needed some familiar spell to draw everybody in.
From what I got from these and other Screenshots, the spells will eventually be replaceable with other swap out powers as you get to be a certain power level, and I saw additonal powers for at-will too, so it looks like yes for replacing at-will powers. Looking at those specialty things and powers, cold seems to be used a lot in the wizard for this game, so maybe it will be there too?

That's the second thing that "bothers" me, why all the ice\cold spells? I understand they do it for the "controll" as the name applies to the kit of the mage, but i really really hope they add more stuff so we can get some more "personalization" which is basically half the thing about playing a mage. Swapping out spells when we want and need to.
I'm sure there will be more, they're just showing some of the iconic spells. All the videos and interviews say you'll have several abilities to choose from but only a few hot keyed. The others will be available to hot-swap over to. How exactly that is accomplished I'm not sure as of yet.

Haha, well as someone who loved Champions Online to death. If we could get even a fraction of choice as a mage as you had with powers in that game, im happy. And i bet they have plans to add more abilities and spells down the line anyway.

Just an observation.
MM fired multiple bolts mostly as a way to scale damage. Sure, you could actually break the bolts up to hit multiple targets, but most Wizards I played pnp with never bothered to do so. Using a single bolt visualization is kind of smart, in a way of thinking. As long as the single missile still scales in damage, you've achieved the same thing as multiple bolts, but with a consideration you never had to worry about in pencil & paper games; graphics load. The game looks visually stunning so far. All the graphics are amazing. I'm sure that a half dozen magic missiles wouldn't add much to the load, but, for some players that tiny degree might be the difference between frame rate lag every time the caster casts, and no frame rate issues. Just something to think about.

only multi missile i saw in DnD 4e handbook
Force Volley Wizard Attack 17
Silvery missiles spring from your fingertips and streak across the
battlefield, striking your enemies with staggering force.
Encounter ✦ Arcane, Force, Implement
Standard Action Ranged 20
Targets: One, two, or three creatures
Attack: Intelligence vs. Reflex, one attack per target
Special: If you target only one creature with this power, you
gain a +4 power bonus to the attack roll.
Hit: 3d6 + Intelligence modifier force damage, and the target
is dazed until the end of your next turn
mayb later on they might intro greater magic missile & epic magic missile..(this are multi shots)fingers crossed
Wait, no one has mentioned casting a magic missile into the darkness?
*PHEW* thank you!
now i can sleep.

Just based on the screenshot it looks like it's moving towards a "Diablo 3" style of power swap system, which is fine - right now it looks like there is only one 'path', but I'm sure it will be more fluid once it hits release.
As for multiple magic missiles and the changes to that power in 4e, yeah. I still always imagine it as multiple missiles on one target, but that's just a graphics thing. D3 has one missile for magic missile too. There are a lot of at-will powers to chose from in the books though, so hopefully the choices there will open up as well!
Edit:

I facepalmed.

Well, if anybody is Playtesting D&D NEXT you can stop complaining about multiple missiles and start complaining on how you get more instead. Not sure who signed up and the info is still confidential so that's it on the details.
as someone said the customization level of champions online would be nice...but unlikely, it is the golden standard of mmo customization but rarely feasible
It should look good, you'll be spamming it most of your gametime. :P I for one loved the Eldritch Bolt AA in CO i always ranked it up to rank 2 or 3, since that was my most used ability on my character.

Here I will defend the developers. At graphics even if they make the best graphics out there what they do will never come close to what our imagination created when we were playing D&D.
It could use a little polish but I'm pretty sure that spell graphic effects will allmost never satisfy this comunity
Maybe it's just me being a glass half full kind of goblin, but honestly... we're getting an MMO based on Forgotten Realms... the graphics could be of a Magic Muffin and I'd be thrilled.

So... hard... not... to... troll...
I think of the at-wills as auto-attack replacements. Do auto-attacks usually look that good compared to other skills? Really?
