3rd person game: no first person?

In one of the videos the game is described as a third person game. I'm wondering if its still possible to zoom into first person anyway. I always get annoyed when i try and see what the character is seeing and can't, spoils a sense of immersion. Especially useful for roleplaying and being in the midst of battle. Most mmos allow this, but im not sure whether cryptic has done this in STO and u could only do it in NWN by altering the game.

There might be - cryptic engine has a capability to have a flexible camera as obvious from other games.

I would love it if we could and as gillrmn said there's a good chance it could be a possibility.

I actually greatly preferred the first person view given to us in Skyrim but then again I would suppose on how the gameplay works. With the 'Action Combat System' they have put so much work into developing it might not even truly be feasible to play in first person view. Rolling around combat and teleporting would proabably have my head spinning more than anything else...

While the previous games of Cryptic don't toggle 1st and 3rd person as say, DDO does, they come darn close to a 1st person perspective in regards to camera placement options. The cameras are also easy to move and jump from place to place.

But NWO may have features we're not even aware of.

Personally I'm hoping for a 1st person perspective...being a old school EQ player it is my preferred way of playing and it really lends to the immersion factor for me.

Yeah i reckon that watching that guardian fighter trailer that over the shoulder view will help you round up and see that your hitting 7 skeletons/zombies at a time, and would allow the hits comeing back at you, giving better vision for the shield block.

I would love a first-person perspective as an option because outside of combat I prefer that view, especially when in closed in locations. In combat, especially with NWO and the fast pace of combat, I would always use third-person perspective in order to keep my bearings.
