This is something that is bother me for a while.
is about the classes, All of them (cleric, wizard, etc...) (maybe except the warrior) but it may be that i have little information of DnD...
the question is: the classes are VERY versatile in gameplay? I mean, there are clerics that want to smash their enemies with a hammer Instean of using his/her power to heal others? like a paladin?
another example is: a Wizard that want to use foul dark magic or elemental(fire, earth, etc...) instean of the arcane...? like a warlock, necromancer or elemental mage?
The point of this thread is: How the classes works?
Maybe this question might find it odd or noob-ish, but since seeing the other forum about the classes like the cleric and the wizard... I needed to ask *this* to clarify doubts
If these examples are out of place is maybe is because that I dont know almost NOTHING of DnD...
neither neverwinter
sorry if this might offends some fans of DnD with these examples and the whole question ...
section 2 give most the information we know, if it is not there then we just do not know at the present. Details on class and customisation has been the least in coming out.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] I am not evil, I am just cursed.
if they restrict classes like wow the d&d in this game is dead. fact ! the classes are the core of the game.

It was posted in other threads the are nowhere done with the character creation and customization build options, but the gist of what I posted on that above link to my FAQ is essentially true. Classes will have options to focus on different areas of their abilities, but when we start swapping power sources, we either go to another sub-class (the Wizard [arcanist] class vs the wizard [mage] subclass) or an altogether different class.
So yes, options in the book do exist, but it's too soon to see what they will do with builds and classes in general in the MMO
Hey guys, I haven't read the entire thread but I will say this...
Character customization is still under heavy development and is not ready to be talked about yet. I wouldn't worry about it being too shallow - all our games have very robust character systems and Neverwinter will be no exception.
...We consider this a very key feature of Neverwinter that sets us apart from other MMOs so we will continue to talk about the Foundry right up to launch.
This was a quote from another thread (post #49). This is the most in depth answer we've gotten.
It sounds promising to me.
very good then... I think that is better to wait but I'm not waiting for a masterpieces of classes...
STO give me a bad feeling with the officer career(player's class) its feel a little limited except for the starship (officer's stations give you their space abilities depending in thier class).
I'm not waiting to see a warlock or a necromancer, a paladin or a priest, i was just asking if that was posible but seeing is not very complete yet, it open for more posibilities but also for deceptions.
Also i'm not trust Cryptic saying that they will give a "unique" way to create our characters and "evolve it" but well, I'm not here to complain (like the rest of the comments of neverwinter in youtube)... I'm here to discuss, wait and see the game's news and updates, waiting to see more about the classes and gameplay...
Thank you for response

No, thank you for your involvement! It's people like you asking these questions that caused us to get over a page of new responses in less than 24 hours on a quiet weekend day! It's been a while for this revival and I'm happy to see it!

No I don't agree. D&D is too big beyond classes. But people do identify themselves with characters. So variety in classes is important for people to express their identity.

hmm... does that mean number of new threads or total number of posts? Anyways that is good news...

D&D may have a huge world & lore but the attactivness of the game is the class variety. You can make a character that suits youre own style and desires.
If i wanna play something with just huge lore and premade characters i would go for warhammer. I prefer D&D because of the class sistem.

But that is your personal preference, to a lot of other players playing in the forgotten realms or being able to play a specific D&D class or being immersed in the D&D lore is just as important. Yes you will have folk say" "If my character doesn't match my own style I won't play"....but they will not be the overwhelming majority.
So you are saying that you prefer an 4 class neverwinter online instead of an 10 class choice neverwinter online just because you like the lore ? Oh really ?

New posts in both new and existing threads highlighting what showed up in "Today's Posts" or "New Posts" . And only one of those was a spam thread then

Remember, we were going to have five pre-set classes in the co op, so one of the delay reasons is class customization it seems.

I am just informing you that D&D is not shallow referring to your quote
...the d&d in this game is dead...
Char customization is a small part of what D&D is.
There is a lot more to D&D than that. And warhammer lore is actually less than D&D lore. D&D world is vast.

You are taking what i say too ad-literam. The character is pretty huge part of d&d you cannot play it without characters.
It's like the key of the chest.

In conclusion:
so, is too soon to talk about the classes, even more with their respective builds and abilities?
Pretty much, Hearing they weren't done with development really settled a lot of "limited builds concerns" for now.
