Please bring back Bend Bars Lift Gates or at the very least let me take my axe to that rickety wooden door that I can see right through. One thing that drives me crazy about RPG's is the inability to destroy doors in 99.9% of them. This should be possible. Ok I can understand not hacking down a big stone block, or a metal door. But hell at least give us a shot at taking those things down. Yeah it may attract every flippin creature in the vicinity but stilll.....
I think that would be possible by using simple STR checks ... like STR>20 means you can break/open the door

It's called a Strength check. Certain things like a crowbar help things like bashing doors and bending bars. Heck, this was true even back in 2nd ed, see the Prybar, and also See the 2nd ed D&D game video Planescape: Torment which used this item in the game's opening area.
I was refering to the old school games (Played 1st through 3rd ed, Not 4th however). They just seemed to do away with it over the years in vid games. You would be standing near a wooden door and so you decided to bash the HAMSTER out of it or a chest. Now it's find the key no. I don't care if you put a explosive rune on that door or chest let me have it.
While doing this with some doors/chests might be enjoyable, there's a slippery slope here. If everything can be accessed without a rogue, there'll be fewer rogues, and possibly none at all depending on other aspects of rogue play.

Not nessesarily they can make metal locked doors that are unbreakable, or normal doors too this is a high magic setting.

Opening stuck/locked doors has nothing to do with a rogue when it's strength-related. It's simply using the attribute strength with items to enhance your success. By simplifying everything to attributes, you take away class dependence. I can verify this by saying it's how D&D Next or 5th edition is running their game system (and that's all that can be said about it really thanks to NDA)

^^ This is what I am saying. I am speaking of the standard mundane door. Also if a brawler wants to rip a door off the hinges that is clearly labled "Door of Boom You Die". Then more power to him. I should be a bit more specific if the rouge (Because he makes less noise and nobody wants a poison needle shot at their crotch) fails his rolls and Big Al wants to power smash the door it should be and option. Again this is in reference to shoddy doors that some level one wizard who doesnt want his latest issue of Dragon stolen locked up.
I agree bringing back the ability to do Strength checks would be awesome. it would add huge dimensions to the game. Thieves can still be very important just add in more heavy duty doors and traps etc. that Strength can not overcome. I definately hope on the player developed content side this gets addressed even if it is not in the primary content.
