Generally, I don't particularly try to make an introduction thread, but eh, I decided I wanted to. It's been years since I played D&D, but I lost interest thanks to 3rd edition rule set and how it basically removed the whole role-play aspect in favor of roll playing, but that's preference. I probably started out like most people, with a group of friends, and then played much bigger campaign settings like DragonLance and Dark Sun, but my favorite is of course Ravenloft.
Anyways, my interest in all things D&D has been sparked again, I've actually been looking over the much maligned 4th edition rules, though to be honest I am actually liking the rules. But that's a debate for another time.
I am hoping that with the foundry I will be able to start creating Ravenloft style adventures. Of course I will have to figure out ways to make certain rules systems work within the 4th edition ruleset, but I always enjoyed the Realm of Dread for its atmosphere and the fact it actually inspired more out of RP than just rolling dice (despite that god awful White Wolf (aka Arthaus) almost destroyed even the atmosphere of the Realm of Dread ). Pity that Wizards still refuses to work with Ravenloft, despite they resurrected a campaign setting that had an even smaller fan base with Dark Sun (though I loved that one to).
Anyways, hopefully I can put together some adventures in the future for people, and they will be quite enjoyable, though being around a decade out of practice, might take sometime.
Speaking as a player who belongs to a Multi-gaming guild (that does virtual tabletop gaming also) we have somebody running a Ravenloft 4e Campaign (playing of all things a female Mul Shaman who is a former slave from Athas, until the mists "freed" her.) I can fully appreciate the setting and there are many people playing 4E D&D who also play/run Ravenloft! While I can't speak for RL physical locations, look on the community.wizards.com/dndbeta/go/forum sites for people who may want to run a Ravenloft campaign online. Signing up is free, and you can receive an invitation for the virtual table. However, other things like an online character builder and source books and PC build info may ask for premium access as a D&D Insider.
But if you have any questions, feel free to PM me here and I'll gladly help you out!
Again, welcome to Neverwinter and great posting with you so far!
Thanks. I've actually been digging deep on the intertubes and been finding a lot of references. So far, I've found Jester's 4e Ravenloft conversion rules, and I like them. Though they still need tweaking, IMO. I've ran the Ravenloft campaign setting since it's first box premiere way back in the day, and almost had every module to it.
So, the thing for me will, of course, having to sit down and pour over the various abilities of each class and see if they need any specific modifications for the Realm of Dread. As far as Ravenloft's actual position in 4e, there is a small blurb about it in the DMG for the cosmology. Where as in previous editions, Ravenloft was a pocket dimension resting on the Border Ethereal of the Ethereal Plane, but in 4e it's moved to be on the edge of the Shadowfell.
Cosmology aside, Ravenloft has a special place in my heart, and always will, so something I will be working to supply in Neverwinter with the Foundry, I hope.

It's had no place in my heart ever since that werewolf ripped it out and ate it
Sorry, I was hungry... Though hearts aren't exactly my favorite dish. Too stringy and most are full of more cholesterol than meat and.... *looks around* WUT?

That's not what I meant when I hoped for an iconic woman to take my heart!
welcome to forgotten realms ! Im glad people start coming to this game in large numbers and i hope we all stay here even after beta comes =D.Let as make that neverwinter suppress all outdated and overrated games released till now.^^
On another note, I already have a global channel set up in Cryptic if people want to join. It's called TheWolfDen if you have a way to join (such as being in Champions or STO) since all Cryptic global channels are cross game, I don't expect it to be any different in Neverwinter either.

That being said I might see about crafting up some stories while I am waiting or even give my gist for perusal on some 4e style Ravenloft™ rules.
