Anyone else feel like the quest "Crows Rest" in the new mod30 is tooooo much?

gramps5scorpiongramps5scorpion Member Posts: 129 Arc User
I have tried at least 40 times to get through that climb and failed. I have sat at the bottom and watched a dozen or more other people try as many times without success. The game has turned from fun to frustration at this point! Is there something I am missing in order to complete this quest? Has anyone succeeded to get the materials at the top of the climb?
Take the extra time to do the job right and it will never come back to bite you in the A**

    I find it easy.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

This quest is a nightmare created by a sick brain. I tried to do it dozens of times, I tried to go from below, to jump from above, to get there with the thief's teleport. I think it was designed specifically to encourage the sale of new PCs, I was one step away from throwing mine downstairs and I'm on the fourth floor :(

Would have been a good place to allow the grappling hook...
I've done it a couple of times, but any sort of lag makes it harder.

Some of my guildmates are still trying.
The problem is that even if you leave the quest it keeps giving it back to you and until you turn in both (you can do two at a time), you are stuck. At least it was possible to turn them in one at a time, or make it so that if this one is abandoned it is possible to have a different one. I don't think it's that complicated.
This mechanism is really bad, It's normal that people trying to do this quest have been flooding the chat with insults and worse all afternoon. :/

Try it the first time today. It is not bad. Before today, I thought the quest was to go all the way up to the peak.
I stood on the platform and watched others climbing up without problem too.
I consider this is a lot easier than some old jumping tasks. For those, you either needed to do that in hurry and/or a misstep is death.

Hmmm, you've made me remember Gyrion's realm in the River District!

Aside from spending two hours trying to do a quest, the problem is that the quests are given twice and if you don't turn them in you won't get the next ones, so if you don't succeed, you're stuck and this happens with almost all campaigns now.
If it were possible to pick up and turn in the quests one at a time, continuing with the campaigns wouldn't be so frustrating.

Move the character to the edge slowly, facing where you want to jump to and then hold 'w' and 'space'. Don't run. You can practice that on solid ground first to see how far you can jump.

If you start in the main hub and take the bridge out to the right (east), then explore round the far end of the bridge... there are some places you can climb over the landscape. One of them lets you drop through a hole... and after some clambering, you can drop down onto the quest platform from above.

I'm not saying it's easier, but it's another way to try.

    This works perfectly

You're welcome. The OP didn't ask for help. He asked if he was missing something (No) and if the rewards were worth it (not really, but another quest turned it). As for the title of this thread, I gave my honest response. I'm sorry if that is too much for you.

Yes, from here to drop straight down, it is stress free. :)

This really scares me because I'm already having really frustrating difficulty with the Leap and Replenish quest and can't progress because of it. I don't think I've gotten to this one yet if the name is really Crow's Rest. I really hope that these kinds of quests are fixed so they don't keep interfering with progress in the campaign. It's one thing to make a challenge, but to use a quest like this in a way that's actually preventing us from continuing is just wrong. We can't get another pair of quests until we complete the one(s) that are keeping us from moving on. I've succeeded at the Leap and Replenish once, but just spent two days trying to do this one again and failing. I just quit instead of continuing to try because I was so frustrated. Please don't use quests like this as progression quests. They should be something extra that don't interfere with player progression.

Crow's Rest is where the new hub for the zone is located.

Yeah that quest just sucks, I am real sick of it.

I have to comment again on this one. I strongly believe that the normal progression quests should not be "gotchas". Tricky, hard/frustrating quests like this have no place in the daily grind. It discourages people and slows down progress. If a builder has the desire to make things hard and challenging those ideas should be applied to efforts that aren't related to the normal progress in the campaign. So people who relish a serious challenge can do them, but players who just want to enjoy the game shouldn't be hindered by a stupid quest like this that literally prevents us from getting any more quests.

    Two suggestions:

    1. Turn all your video settings down to minimum to increase frame rate as much as possible. My new laptop had to go back to HP for repair so I'm forced to play on my older one, and it's like playing in potato vision. So turn those settings down and max your frame rate.

    2. If you have a mouse with a tilt wheel (one you can push left or right), remap jump to mouse button 4 or 5 (pushing the wheel left or right). It frees your left hand from having to jump, leaving it only having to control lateral motion. With the mouse you can then manage aiming and jumping simultaneously. For me it makes parkour infinitely easier. For years I've had left wheel push mapped to mount/unmount and right wheel push to jumping. *So* much easier.
