Huge patch after exiting?

As the title says, I played for a few hours, logged through different accounts, and when I exited for the night, it tried patching for about 15 minutes, 24% @600mb, and stalled.... I killed the program.
I reloaded the launcher (I do not go through Arc, I have OG launcher), and it did not patch, let me log right it. I tooled around for a few minutes and exited straight from the game. It tried patching again and is now about another 15 minutes in and about 30%.

Is this a normal operation? I have seen it patch many times over the years after exiting, but not this large, not in the middle of the night, and off patch day...

    It is normal. It is pre-patch download to get ready for the next mod. It usually happens before the launch of a new mod.
