Dragonborn Vale Companion Question

I have not played Dragonborn Vale in a long time but started again with a new toon. One thing I am having issues with is when I propel to any location my companions don't come with me and I have to dismiss them and then re-summon them when I land . I seem to remember that wasn't an issue the first few times I did the campaign but I could be totally wrong. It's really a pain because sometimes you land in a hot zone without your companion and you are screwed.
