I haven't played the game since 2017 and want to return. What should I know?

I stopped this game around the Module 11: Cloaked Ascendency.

I was a GWF (Great Weapon Fighter) with Feytouched for PVP, and Vorpal for PVE and that dark blue armor enchantement I forgot the name of. I also remember that my Main Artifact was the Wheel of Elements 😁

Is it worth coming back? Or am I too severely behind since this game is in Module 26?

    My questions are:

    - Since I'm older now, I'm not as 'tryhard-ish' anymore. Can I play this game casually, at my own pace, without feeling the BiS pressure?

    - Is the game viable on Solo Play, or must I absolutely join a guild?

There is no more Feytouch or Vorpal. The enchantment system was changed.
Only you can tell if it worth coming back. Yes, you are very behind and you should consider this as a new game.
You can do solo play but I also don't know how high you really want to reach though. For casual, in my opinion, it can be solo play easily. No, you don't have to join a guild.
*** The game can read your mind. If you want it, you won't get it. If you don't expect to get it, you will. ***

    Yes you can play solo.

Yes you can catch up pretty fast, except for levelling enchants which takes a lot of grind.

Yes you can still play casually and get a lot of enjoyment.

No you dont need to pay any money to play this game and enjoy it.

ONE caveat though, the newer module revolve quite a bit around heroic encounters which require a few players. In slightly older mods [but in the past year or so] you will find empty instances and few players to team up with, but its still doable.

I stopped trying for BiS after the Riverdistrict Module and I can play nearly all but extreme end game content.

Joining an active Alliance adds loads of fun and makes life in game a lot easier.

Just realize now there are a lot more Legendary Account-Wide Mounts, not to mention several Mythic Account-Wide Mounts that can be reclaimed on multiple characters in Rewards Claim. This is also TRUE for Companions, and there are some earnable FREE Legendary Mounts/Companions Account-Wide with Reaper's Challenge once you hit 50,000 Item-Level to earn. Getting to 50,000 item-level isn't too hard after you complete all the adventures, and several old campaigns that use to take months to complete now only take 1 - 2.5 hours at most to earn the previous boons! Even if you previously completed them, redoing the adventures sometimes offers additional bonuses as well.

You should probably know they changed the enchantment system completely around, now there are new Enchantments, so all your old ones will be converted to credits to possibly unlock new more powerful ones to upgrade. The saving GRACE is that now you can convert a unbound Mythic Enchantments, into a Character Bound but Account-Reclaimable for each of your character's as well. This also goes for the new Weapon Enchantments as well, as well as the Bonus Enchantments.

Still ONE good thing right now is it's a good time to purchase several 1700 item-level gear OFF the Auction House fairly affordable. Cause in the next MOD all Seal Gear will be mostly Character Bound so something you'll have to unlock by doing Dungeons and such on each.
