Going forward getting stuck.

jana#2651 jana Member Posts: 686 Arc User
I can only go directly forward, changing the angle of the mouse doesn't let it do anything different. I will run into something and stay stuck there until I get out of the area, and go back if its an instance. Its very tiresome on top of alt not working by itself, I have to hold a and control down and do it a couple of times for it to work. This has been on all key boards so it is NOT a keyboard issue. It doesn't happen all the time but enough tobe very tiresome- the not going forward except straight ahead doesn't happen all the time. the alt and having to hit control too for awhile now.

    Hello @jana#2651,

Do you have a controller connected to your PC? If so, unplugging it might fix this issue.

What do you mean by a controller Percemer? Like my mouse is wireless, otherwise it is just a windows 11 computer.

He means a game controller like with a joystick. So, you don't have it.

Oh thanks plasticbat. Percemer It seems like it only happens with certain companions, any chance there dynamics occasionally cause it.? It really happens at some awfully inconvenient times.

Sometimes I think I'm typing into a text field (like the auction house search box), but I'm not, so all the key presses get interpreted as commands. The "t" key starts me walking forwards and doesn't stop. I can't remember if you can change direction while that is happening.

Anyway, the way out of that is to press "t" again, just in case that's the problem.

I use 't' all the time. You can hit most key to get it stop. I usually hit 'w'.
I wish it only allows 't' to get it stop though so that I can start encounter while running.

What kind of mouse do you have? How long have you been using it?
So far, I killed 2 expensive gaming mice playing this game. My current cheaper gaming mouse has lasted for a few years so far.
I assume yours is a wired mouse. If it is a wireless mouse, the signal could be blocked or interfere. I had that problem before too. Mine is a wired gaming mouse.

I am currently using a logitech wireless mouse. I have a microsoft wired mouse that is suppose to be for gaming but it doesn't work near as well as my wireless logitech, which also fits my hand better. Do you use those mechanical keyboards for gaming?
The good ones are so expensive unless you hit a sale and I sure would like to know if they are worth it.

I have a gaming keyboard which is not real mechanical keyboard. You can always connect both mice and see if the situation change using different one (when the problem happens). Just need to make sure you don't move the other mouse.

I have tried three different mouses now, its not them. Yesterday I played on random tomb of the nine gods, it was unusually lengthy and when we finally got done with the last battle I couldn't go forward, (w) had me going in a circle and I couldnt open any chests. This is getting really frigging old now, I hope this new update fixes it.

Okay I am sick of this issue. Had to log out of the infernal citadel because of it and when I came back those demon gifts in f were gone. Had to log out of the reapers cloak tower and came back to the frigging beginning. It did it two more times and I gave up. I want this fixed, I havent spent the money Ive spent to not be able to finish dungeons. Noticed there are times I seem to get stuck to a certain player and can only go in circles. This is way annoying.

Screenshot the game and on-screen keyboard when the issue happens. Post it here.
Unbind the target lock from ctrl and check the sticky keys in windows.

All the posts about issues to get into the free mouse mode (alt) unless pressing control and that seems like ctrl sticky keys issue or something similar and not a game bug.

For me my mouse cable seemed to be broken but i'm not sure ...
I cannot check on it either because i threw it away already. When i statred up Neverwinter then - with a little delay and seemingly randomly- it triggered some background program to shot down every port on the same HUB the mouse was using on my PC.
Therefore that mouse couldn't be used anymore vOv

I like a wireless mouse, my microsoft wired mouse for gaming sucks like my microsoft keyboard. Does anyone know what makes a gaming keyboard a real gaming keyboard?

Use a wired gaming mouse and not a wired microsoft mouse.
Wireless mouse (especially those not classified for gaming) can give you random issue in game especially when the battery is closed to out but not exactly out.

Thank you Plasticbat for those sites, I have looked at them all and read everything, and found a good deal on an Aukey mechanical keyboard. Still looking for a decent gaming mouse, thank you for the info!!! You rock.
