Let me compare the previous escort and the new escort.
Previous: longer the march the better. More interrupting the merchant the better. Hence, Stronghold escort. Longer time per escort. New: shorter the march the better. Less interrupting the merchant the better. Hence, Whispering Caverns. Shorter time per escort. I prefer New.
Previous: you have to walk with the merchant and hope he threw the box. New: If the escort is moving, you can just stay in your own segment of the path. I prefer New.
Previous: your companion cannot do (or do enough) work for you. New: staying within the segment, your companion may be able to do the job for you. I prefer New.
Previous: since the longer match the better and more you escort the better, I had to keep running back to the starting point and this is the part I hate the most. New: In the 'chain' system, there is a starter. No more running back and fore. Just stay in your spot. I prefer New.
Previous: you need to stay within the circle when the merchant threw stuff. Then, you needed to find and pick up. More people the harder to spot. Sometime, the item be thrown to a place that was hard to reach. Now: You don't need to pick up the box. I prefer New.
Previous: a bit harder to watch TV and did escort. Now: I can watch TV comfortably and maintaining my segment. I prefer New.
Previous: I could hardly do all my main toons. New: I can. I prefer New
Previous: everyone wanted to do full escort to maximize reward. New: everyone does not need to do full escort. Full escort becomes an option. I prefer new.
Previous: I could solo. It is indifferent between solo and in group. Hence, I used to just solo in stronghold. New: I can still solo but stay within the chain is easier.
Previous: I could AFK in end zone but I needed to find and pick up box every now and then. New: I can also AFK in end zone.
Previous: there were more people AFK in end zone. New: there are people AFK in end zone but a lot less than before. In one occasion, the merchant of the chain died in end zone because nobody covered that.
