Hello Neverwinter!
We are aware there are issues with Shield stacking mechanics and companions. We're working on a fix that will standardize non-player sources of Shields and make the rules more consistent on how they stack.
In general, we want companion shields to be a valuable resource, but keeping in line with our recent goals, we don't want them to dominate companion choice. We'll be changing the stacking rules such that any companion shield does not stack with other companion shields (or itself), but they will stack with player-provided shields. Having a companion-provided shield will be good, and having more than one might increase uptime, but more than one source won't increase your maximum durability.
We'll be making some adjustments to other non-player provided shields, namely the Swift Golden Lion's Aureal Armament, to try and improve its value as well.
We apologize for the issues on live and hope to have this update deployed soon.
